Chris Eubank Jnr challenges Tony Bellew to catchweight fight

In a bizarre exchange on social media, former British middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jnr called out current WBC cruiserweight king Tony Bellew.

At the start of February Eubank Jnr stopped Renold Quinlan on ITV’s first ever pay-per-view show, winning the spurious IBO ‘world’ super-middleweight title in the process. In a recent interview with Sky Bet, Bellew took aim at Eubank’s belt, which is not recognised as a legitimate world title.
“I have seen better belts sold in @Matalan!”

Not sure @TonyBellew is too impressed with @ChrisEubankJr‘s IBO title pic.twitter.com/bB6I4LKxvV

— Sky Bet (@SkyBet) March 23, 2017
Eubank – who had spent time alongside Haye while he trained in Miami before the Bellew fight – naturally took offence to Tony’s comments and claimed that had Haye not ruptured his Achilles tendon in the sixth round, Bellew would have been defeated.
@SkyBet@TonyBellew dont get too brave mate it took u 6 rounds to beat a man with 1 leg. Davids injury made the fight even #CouldntBoxEggs

— Chris Eubank Jr (@ChrisEubankJr) March 23, 2017
The pair then engaged in a back-and-forth, with Eubank telling Bellew – who weighed 213lbs for his clash with Haye – to somehow shrink himself down and fight the Brightonian at super-middleweight.

When Bellew made it obvious that would not be happening, Eubank Jnr floated the idea of a catchweight fight between the two.
@ChrisEubankJr hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah lad the last time I was under 12st you was in your Dads sack! You may as well still be there!

The silliness is becoming hard to ignore for boxing followers. More combat and less childlike chatter from Jr please.

Deffo! I wondered how long it would be before he called GGG out after his below par performance against Jacobs. Took him longer than I initially thought but he still did. Fight was on a plate for him and he backed out! I like him and that wasn't the right fight at the right time but he's starting to get on my tits!

It's ok guys, I'm sure the Eubanks will be able to find a guy with 18 wins, 4 losses with 6 KO's to defend the BO belt.

Haha! Yeah point taken. I was a fan of his dad so I had learned to look past the dickishness and I like a wee bit self assurance when the fighter can back it up. Jnr just fuckin talks and talks! Get a grip and fight. I dunno if his dad is a good thing in his career anymore. He was at the start but he's known now. He should get involved with a proper promoter and let them guide him coz his dad is a massive obstacle.he seems to have burned his bridges with everyone he's fought for though! Who's the common denominator? It's either him or senior and I know who my monies on!

What is challenging boomer if not hot air? He's a fuckin time waster. Went to the wire in negotiating the GGG fight then disappeared at the last minute! I don't blame any promoters for giving him a body swerve! Time for action!

I was at a Marine v Navy dinner boxing show on Thursday night in Cornwall and special guest was Eubank Snr. God that guy is an utter cock. There was a tent set up where you could donate some money to charity for a selfie with him (despite being the only true boxing fan on our table, I was the only one to refuse this) and he stood there dancing, gurning and doing the whole routine we have all seen - preening like a peacock etc.

Doing all this "I am the big brave hard fighting man" when stood amongst forces personnel who protect our nation and risk their lives in dangerous regions of the world. W4anker

I nearly almost feel sorry for junior at times , Imagine if he was your old man , FFS I used to get embarresed with my old fella shouting on the sidelines at a footy match , I'm suprised junior has never had words with him behaving like such a tool , but there again I suppose having such a arse for a dad is all he's ever known.

I really wouldnt be so hard on Eubank, for he never had any expensive or murdeous weaponary to rely on when he went into combat. He earned his stripes the honest way. No unassuming or innocent people got harmed in his battles.

And for what its worth im not sure oil motivated wars thousands of miles away from the UK in places such as Iraq and Afganistan actually contribute in any way whatsover to protecting this country. Its great propaganda and rhetoric but its not actually true nor accurate. Just a thought....

I wouldn't be so hard on Snr, he's an odd bod, but he isn't nasty like Garcia Snr, he's pure scum with his racist comments. I have it on good authority that Eubank Snr often leaves signed photographs of himself at places he has visited, no one asks him to do this, it's off his own back, very kind IMO. :OhYes:
