How's Gonzalez still number 5 when he lost? I know it's a contentious loss but still.

Kovalev #1 for me, but P4P is just too redundant to really care.

Kovalev
Lomachenko
Crawford
Golovkin
Chocolatito
Ward

The sports top fighters, who really gives a crap who is labeled the #1?

I don't have a problem with Golovkin being considered P4P No. 1. If Lomachenko defeats Sosa, then he should be considered as well.

You can't be number 1 coming off a loss. No matter if it was a robbery or not, the decision is official. Roy Jones wasn't #1 after the Griffin loss.

Gennady has been no 1 for the last 2 years, unofficially.

Chocolatito won his fight close but clear, and got robbed by gambling mafias; but he's a perfect example of why power is an essential attribute in the boxing game, as it allows you to climb divisions and win without sustaining too much damage.

Says who? P4P isn't a static stat which needs to adhere to nonsensical rules. It's fantasy, but funnily enough, in boxing, fantasy can be based from reality more so than an actual result.

Most didn't have Roy #1 before he lost to Griffin. Though pea was showing some decline at the time, the Jones p4p for a decade spewed by the Rafael's of the world is as revisionist as the Fab 4 ducking McCallum.

Then why wasn't Castillo #1 after being on the wrong side of the decision vs Floyd when he won?

Castillo didn't exactly go on a dominant run at any point. Had his share of close fights, he just got extra credit for having a style that stunted Floyd.

Castillo was on a 12-0-1 run for 3 1/2 years before Floyd beating Stevie Johnston. It isn't Floyd dominant but it's not like Kovalev was beating prime ATGs leading up to Ward. He wasn't.
