Golovkin's Coach Fires Back at Kell Brook, Ingle Over Fight Claims
For the last few days, Brook and Ingle have claimed that Golovkin had "the stuffing" knocked out of him last September, and his performance against Jacobs was lacking as a direct result of the punches he took from Brook.
Brook and Ingle also claimed that Golovkin was lucky the fight was stopped, because they believe GGG was already physically winded and would have been very vulnerable in the second half of the fight.
---------------------•
Sanchez rolled up his sleeves and hit back at Brook and Ingle.
"The fight is over, he got stopped in the fifth. I didn't stop it. Gennady was beating on him. The referee didn't stop it. His corner stopped it, so what are they talking about? They are the ones who gave up," Sanchez told BaylorIC Worldwide-TV.
"They should have let that fight continue so that Kell Brook wouldn't be fighting today, because he would be an injured man. It would have been impossible for him [to fight right now] with the injuries sustained and the eye would have probably sustained a lot more damage and we wouldn't be talking about Brook and Errol Spence right now."
"My comment would be, it's very easy to talk once you got the stuffing knocked out of you. The fight was stopped because he would have been seriously hurt. The fight was stopped not because Golovkin was hurt, but because Kell was hurt and taking a beating. The fight was stopped by his corner. It's like I said, it's very easy to talk now when we are so far removed from the fight. The fact is, he's got an L on his record and it was from Golovkin."

Like Sanchez said, the ref didn't stop it, neither did he.. Ingle did a Brook a big favor, avoiding him a knockdown and KO loss. Because guarantee, another round and he would have been finished.. He was using the ropes to keep himself up.
Re: Golovkin's Coach Fires Back at Kell Brook, Ingle Over Fight Claims
Sanchez evaded the question.
I actually concur Brook's uppercut shook Gennady down to his boots, and it's perfectly plausible it made him more cautious vs Jacobs.
It actually reminds me of the Hagler vs Hearns war, where Hearns clearly hurt Marvin a few times before being bombed out himself, and the subsequent damage inflcted by Mugabi.
By the time Leonard came, Hagler's chin was still sturdy but wasn't diamant anymore like in the past; Leonard landed some bombs on him and he was shook even though he didn't show it, and it made him more cautious in letting his own punches go.
I think Golovkin evidently showed some apprehension at getting hit by Jacobs, and it lasted the whole bout.

Every time there's an upcoming fight coming up in division around middleweight someone needs to bring up Golovkin to publicise their fight. Does it work? Brook and his coach just look like tossers. I remember Brooks post fight denial speech, well I was about to settle down on my punches, but I was seeing 2 of Golovkin in there, yea i was seeing three or 4 or 6 of golovkin in there but I was going to settle in to the second half he was slowing down. Obviously I'm not quoting that but thats what I remember it being like....denial.
Re: Golovkin's Coach Fires Back at Kell Brook, Ingle Over Fight Claims
You're all crazy.
Ingle was clearly so embarrassed for Golovkin and his team he withdrew Brook to stop him from further embarrassing their fighter.

Re: Golovkin's Coach Fires Back at Kell Brook, Ingle Over Fight Claims
I'm kind of in both camps on this one.
From brooks POV he had success at times during the fight that he can take heart from, where are lot of previous opponents for ggg have literally just taking a beating without landing any punches of significance. If ggg has a weakness it's that his head movement is limited and brook was able to find him with the right hand.
But on the other hand, it's a 5 round stoppage, he literally got bust up, well his eye socket did. So Sanchez is right it's another stoppage win on golovkin record, that is the fact. There's only so much credit you can take

The key moment of that fight is Hearns landing flush and Hagler walking through it with seemingly no dent made in him.crow wrote:OMGSaadOffTheDeck wrote:Hearns never really hurt him

They know everything about fighting, don't they? Marvin was hit, not hurt. Look at Hearns when he gets hit, that's what hurt looks like.

Re: Golovkin's Coach Fires Back at Kell Brook, Ingle Over Fight Claims
So? Fighters clinch all the time, it doesn't mean they're automatically hurt. Often it simply means they can't get off and want to tie up the other fighter.crow wrote:OMG X 2TheDarkDestroyer wrote:The key moment of that fight is Hearns landing flush and Hagler walking through it with seemingly no dent made in him.crow wrote:

Spence even made reference to how many times Brook and his team have brought up GGG during the most recent press stop in England to promote the fight. I've never seen a guy brag more about a fight he didn't even get to the halfway point in. It's pretty pathetic. Brook needs to focus on Spence because this fight could make him look pretty silly if he doesn't get himself locked in.

Nope, GGG adjusted himself to prepare for the uppercut. Notice how he jumped right before being hit, so it would hurt less.crow wrote:

The decision to fight Golovkin was so stupid! End of story.

Never seen anyone talk soo much about a fight they LOST!!
Had he even gon the distance, even then, going 3 rounds, having 2 good rounds, he will be like Froch. He's going to keep on mentioning it, every fight he has.. HE LOST!
They need to give it up.

Re: Golovkin's Coach Fires Back at Kell Brook, Ingle Over Fight Claims
I'm a Brook fan and I thought he had some success in the Golovkin fight and I'd even go as far as to say that success was played down by Golovkin. That said, Ingle saw the same thing as everyone else and that was that Brook was fading fast in the 5th. Thats why he stopped the fight, it wasnt really because of the eye. They would've stopped the fight due to the eye at the end of a round, not during. I've got no problem with them trying to put a positive spin on the fight (espeically Brook) if asked, but beyond that they should just move on and focus on Spence.

The announcers? Holy shit, it has to be true then! Hearns is not only my favorite fighter but my favorite sportsman. Marvin noticed the right hand, but it hurt Tommy more than it hurt him.crow wrote:OMGSaadOffTheDeck wrote:Hearns never really hurt him

So why do you think Hagler chose to retire at only 32 then?
That's an awfull young age to retire for a middle.
He retired because he realized he was starting to eat punches and was getting hurt in the ring more and more.

He was livid about the decision and the inability to get a rematch. His prime was before he ever won the title. At least you have a view shared by nobody on earth. Well done.crow wrote:So why do you think Hagler chose to retire at only 32 then?

Ignle is clearly talking bull, but this is a terrible argument.
Re: Golovkin's Coach Fires Back at Kell Brook, Ingle Over Fight Claims
It was still Ingle's call to stop it at that time, so he's essentially saying that GGG got lucky on his account. You could quote him as saying 'I let GGG get the win over my fighter, even though Kell was going to take over in the second half', and it wouldn't be far off what he's actually said.
It's a bizarre comment to make, because if Golovkin was in such a bad way that he should be thankful for Ingle's intervention, why did the latter pull Brook out at all? It would've been an absolutely monumental victory and if I were Brook I'd be livid if my trainer had stepped in when I had a great chance of pulling it off.

Re: Golovkin's Coach Fires Back at Kell Brook, Ingle Over Fight Claims
I think that Brook and Ingle are simply trying to make the most out of the defeat to Golovkin... and I believe that all world-class athletes have the confidence in their ability to overcome adversity to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat no matter how dire the circumstances.
So I don’t think that anyone should really be too outraged by their words, even if we disagree with them.
