Where would Crolla go though, he probably hasn't got many fights left in him and if stays in Manchester he's probably with the best coach regardless of what we all say about Gallagher, unless he tries Hatton now there's a option. *taps nose*
Re: Tesco Joe
What could another trainer do with the amount of fights Crolla has left. Crolla has been with Gallagher so long that jumping ship might not be a good idea given that he has used Gallaghers style for so long.broomy7s wrote:Not a Gallagher hater but he was awful last night. Re: Tesco Joe
I think Tesco has done a brilliant job with Crolla.
Re: Tesco Joe
Not sure how people can blame Crolla's performance on his trainer. There was just a level difference in this fight, tactics go out of the window when the other man is clearly faster, more skilled, more powerful and all round more classy than you. Everything Crolla tried he came off second best as he was out of his level, simple as that.
Re: Tesco Joe
I can't see crolla moving gyms now.and why should he?
If you would have told him he'd be world champion after his defeat to Derry Matthews,he would have taken your arm off.
Joe has got out of Anthony what few trainers would have gotten out of him.I hope he stays with Joe.

Re: Tesco Joe
Crolla leaving Gallagher at this stage would be like when Hatton left Billy Graham. It would achieve very little and leave a bit of a sour taste as if trying to pass blame for the defeats to the trainer, as Hatton seemed to do with the Mayweather loss.
Re: Tesco Joe
Gallagher got a telling off from the board over his corner work on a Saturday about the Crolla fight, something along the lines of being indecisive and looking after the health of his fighters etc etc
Re: Tesco Joe
If he was his trainer, I wonder if Hatton would take his percentage from Crolla's purse? - after all, he didn't like paying Billy what he was due as soon as got the big money fights.pimp wrote:broomy7s wrote:Not a Gallagher hater but he was awful last night. I wonder if Crolla will jump ship now.

Re: Tesco Joe
On the flip side of what's the point of him leaving, the other is that he could with a new trainer be invigorated for his final few fights, assuming he doesn't carry on for too long.
He could easily live in Manchester whilst doing camp abroad or elsewhere in the UK. There's plenty of gyms where he could tick over between fights/camps on the day to day.
I don't think he will leave to be honest, but it's not that far fetched a possibility.

Hatton doesn't take a percentage off his fighters he never took anything from ZZ, I think it was more ray Hatton and Paul speak that didn't want to pay billy
Re: Tesco Joe
Tesco wouldn't get the stick he does if he just piped down a bit and stayed "humble". He's a decent trainer but the stats simply don't match up to the hype/praise/awards I'm afraid. That's the stone cold truth.
Re: Tesco Joe
The recent BBC online article did tend to re-enforce the Gallagher mantra of "everything for my fighters", cost me my marriage, bit of a victim etc.
I've never met him, but he clearly can't score a fight in real time.

I seem to remember about 3 yr ago...could be 5, his gym hadn’t lost a fight in 25 fights or some quite impressive number. I was a bit surprised when that Joe Murray lost.
It just reinforces my opinion that in boxing you never really know how good someone will be until adversary strikes.
Aside from that I know absolutely nothing about the man, but it strikes me there are far less worthwhile things he could be turning his hand to. He’s made too much of a figure of fun for my liking.

Re: Tesco Joe
People love to hate ,, The facts are , he has managed to get British level fighters on the world scene and with Hearns convinced the public they were elite , and the facts are once they got to the top the fighters were just not up to it . Ok his corner work and tactics at times are a bit out there , and he certainly does seem to lose control a bit , But it would'nt matter if it was Angelo Dundee ,, Roach , or Eddie Futch in the corner ,,, When they gave info to a boxer and said boxer could'nt carry it out because he did'nt have the same skill level ,has his opponents then they would be considered idiots has well .
Would anyone else off been able to get these guys to the top level , i seriously doubt if Roach is going to improve Quigg ,, If there is one major flaw with Joe its the fact that , his boxers don't seem to think for themselves , right from day one a fighter should be taught to analize his own fight , the trainer can't fight it for them and one punch can tell you that the strategy is'nt working so the fighter should be able to change pace , change momentum , and change the fighht without having to be told ,, Then when he comes back put back the plans can be adjusted ,, What i get watching Joes fighters is , example he says , use the jab , double the jab ,, they will do it , but if the left hook to the body is there ,, they won't spot it because he has'nt told them , and i think he feels the pressure at high level and misses a lot
That does'nt mean he's a bad trainer , you have to give him credit for getting his fighters to a higher level than most would think they should be , course Hearns and his bank account take a lot of credit has well . But all in all its a job well done his fighters hav'nt been getting beat by idiots , they get beat by the best .

He wouldn't confirm or deny rumours she had a massive kennel and several dogs in the back yard.
