While this may make sense to Eddie Hearn (Crolla seems to be a big ticket seller, possibly due to Mancunians seeking a new generation Ricky Hatton) it is insulting to Burns. What possible legitimacy is there with Crolla having no light welter credentials and Burns being a world titleholder (double belt holder if he defeats Indongo)?
It's crap like this, along with Sky's house-fighter cheerleading, that annoys me.

I think it will prove irrelevant. Can't see Burns avoiding Indingos right hand for 12 rounds.
If Burns was to lose I'd hate to see him used as cannon fodder to domestic up and comers or ticket sellers coming up in weight.

Is Indongo even that big of a puncher?PredatorHayds wrote:I think it will prove irrelevant. Can't see Burns avoiding Indingos right hand for 12 rounds.
3 of his last 6 opponents have managed to go the full 12 rounds distance with him.

He's had one of the best chins I've ever seen but I think Indongo hits hard enough to trouble him. Even in his distance wins I've been impressed with Indongos power. He throws unorthodox loopy shots that I feel will trouble Burns. Really hope I'm wrong but that's how I see it.

Burns is in the same boat. He's nowhere near world level yet we get fed this absurd sky hype that he's a triple weight world champion.Bricks wrote:crolla in the 80s and 90s would have been domestic level....like a steve foster, a kid milo or johhny melfah,.....but in this day and age he was sold as main event world champion......and it stinks..............straali wrote:Much talk in mainstream media of Crolla moving up and fighting Ricky Burns.

I think Burns get KO'd too.
If he gets offered the Corolla fight then he should take it. Easy points decision....

Poppycock.
He's a three weight world champion.
Re: Hearn's Idea of Matchmaking
Matching promotional stablemates to keep the title in house is hardly a move unique to Matchroom.
It seems a fairly obvious match-up.

Re: Hearn's Idea of Matchmaking
Ricky Burns is a world level fighter.. I don't believe he will ever be elite but how anyone can say he's not world level is crazy.. Boxing is all about getting the right fights. This fight against Indongo is interesting because he's a southpaw but in my opinion he's a poor southpaw. He is very open for burns Jab cross then body shot.. its a hard fight but I feel Ricky will win wide on points.. I think Burns would beat Linares.. The crops fight makes good money but is a very easy fight for Ricky
Re: Hearn's Idea of Matchmaking
I don't see why Crolla should be giving up on a world title shot at lightweight.
Easter Jr. & Flanagan don't seem like unbeatable world champions.
Is Burns vs Crolla big enough to risk his lightweight future over?

He doesn't have a lightweight future. He's not getting Flaningan. Easter is on a different level to me. More explosive Linares to me. Crolla has had his lightweight run. Move onHorse wrote:I don't see why Crolla should be giving up on a world title shot at lightweight.

How are they bigger draws. If they sell less tickets than Burns does in Glascow or Crolla in Manchester. Broner is only bigger in name. The money would be similar and a chance to keep the title In house with both guys thinking they have legit chance to win and extend there careers its no brainerStuarty30 wrote:From Burns perspective Broner and Crawford are far bigger. Broner-Porter didn't sell that well or even Maidana so Burns is going to sellStuarty30 wrote:

Broner over here or in the US is bigger than Crolla. I like Crolla, I'm a fan but you're being a bit too kind to him. If Burns loses against Indongo then Crolla makes sense.
All due respect to Crolla but he's coming off two defeats at the weight class below. Broner is a big draw and Crawford is one of the p4p best. There's no comparison. Crolla would be a decent fight but it's not something I see Burns going for.
than to go over to US and fight in and half empty Arena for the same money. Nobody in the US is interested in Burns to fight here. Hearn understands this that why he brought it up.

Move on to a division that he's probably too small for? Seems pretty daft.world ranked wrote:He doesn't have a lightweight future. He's not getting Flaningan. Easter is on a different level to me. More explosive Linares to me. Crolla has had his lightweight run. Move on
Easter Jr is fairly unproven and might not be that great. Flanagan has looked pretty unimpressive recently and looks beatable.
Crolla should attempt to force a mandatory fight if necessary. I don't see why he can't be fighting and possibly beating either Easter Jr or Flanagan within 18 months, if he hasn't lost too much after his last two fights.

Re: Hearn's Idea of Matchmaking
If Crolla-Flaningan didn't get made as a unification its not getting made now. What reason would Flaningan need to fight Crolla. He has a belt that's worth a unification knowing that what Garcia wants to do. Even Verdejo is going to get his shot really soon. Be realistic!Horse wrote:Move on to a division that he's probably too small for? Seems pretty daft.world ranked wrote:He doesn't have a lightweight future. He's not getting Flaningan. If you think Crolla coming off two defeats and having never fought at 140 is a bigger fight for Burns than pound for pounder Crawford or multi-weight world champion Broner then you need your head looked atworld ranked wrote:How are they bigger draws. Re: Hearn's Idea of Matchmaking
Please get the Crawford fight out of your mind. That fight isn't an option. Broner is only bigger in name. There money will be a little more with Broner. Its all about what Burns wants. Does he want to lose his titles just to say he fought the big names then go for it. Take that loss but UK fans will remember him for the domestic dust ups. Nobody will remember he lost to Crawford or Figueroa but his other great night winning and defending his title. There no fun in remembering Ricky Hatton near loss to Luis Collazo or getting stopped by FLoyd or Manny but they all will remember his crowning moment vs Tsyzu.Stuarty30 wrote:If you think Crolla coming off two defeats and having never fought at 140 is a bigger fight for Burns than pound for pounder Crawford or multi-weight world champion Broner then you need your head looked atworld ranked wrote:How are they bigger draws. Re: Hearn's Idea of Matchmaking
Crawford has said he wants the winner of Burns Indongo. Burns (if he wins) would rather have a chance at avenging his loss to Crawford. A very slim chance admittedly but that's the way Burns is. If the money isn't there in the US then Crawford or Broner over here is far bigger than Crolla. It's not even close.world ranked wrote:Please get the Crawford fight out of your mind. It's got feck all to do with what people remember it's about your options at the time. If Burns loses next Crolla makes sense. If he wins he has more options available to him.

Re: Hearn's Idea of Matchmaking
It's an exaggeration to say he can't punch at all, but that KO seems anomalous when looking at his other results. First round blowouts can be very misleading when taken on their own, and Indongo is still somewhat of a mystery man to me.
