Froch vs GGG (when it was first mooted)
Re: Froch vs GGG (when it was first mooted)
After Groves Froch was unable to cash out with Chavez Jr and was alleged to look flat and "not have it" anymore in the gym.

Id have picked Froch then (infact I'm sure id did on the poll here) and now, purely down to his size and ability to win wars. GGG is a great fighter but just hadn't had the competition for me to pick him then and the same is true today.
Any match-up between these two men would have been worth a high end ticket fee.

Froch-Golovkin and Stevenson-Kovalev would've been the best offensive battles the sport could offer.

Something similar is in the pipeline for the summer with the Sauerlands involved.Tomasino wrote:I think it's really sad that there was never another super six. Probs the last boxing 'thing' I truly looked forward to.
Re: Froch vs GGG (when it was first mooted)
I find it odd that when someone said Froch is out nearly 3 years it was immediately stated this is when Froch had just retired and not now. Then all the GGG comments are based on what happened the other weekend, i.e. now. Talk about wanting to set different rules. GGG has got lazy, he's been walking through people too much and desperately needed the Jacobs fight to make him and his team switch on to how much he has become reliant upon power and chin. As has been pointed out Froch isn't Jacobs, a nearer comparison is Martin Murray and we saw what happened to him. Yes Froch punches harder than Murray but we've yet to see a sign that GGG doesn't have as strong a chin as Froch. Based on when Froch first retired I'd call it too close to favour either. Based on Jacobs fight, i.e. now, Froch has been retired for some time, Golovkin as the more active fighter would have to be favoured.
