Golovkin's Trainer: Spence is Not Ready, Brook Will Beat Him
"Golovkin's Trainer: Spence is Not Ready, Brook Will Beat Him"
Abel Sanchez, trainer of IBF, WBC, IBO, WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, is backing IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-1, 25 KOs) to defeat undefeated Olympian Errol Spence (21-0, 18 KOs) on May 27 in Sheffield.
There is a lot of hype behind Spence and numerous experts are predicting that he does a real job on Brook. Dominic Ingle, who trains Brook, feels Spence is a bit overhyped and his record is lacking credible opponents. Last year, Spence picked up one-sided knockouts win over former world champion Chris Algieri and Italian Olympian Leonard Bundu.
Sanchez agrees with Ingle's position, because the veteran coach believes Spence does not possess enough ring experience, or faced enough top level opponents, to beat someone like Brook at this stage in his career. He predicts that Spence's skills and athletic ability will not be enough to walk away with the title.
"He's a terrific prospect and I think he needs four or five more fights, good fights at a top level to become the best welterweight in the world," Sanchez told BaylorIC Worldwide-TV.
"I think its too early for him. I think Kell has got the experience and the education, the Carson Jones education of the first fight. He know how to deal with situations like that, he knows how to go twelve rounds. I think Errol Spence is going to learn that it takes more than having athletic ability and great boxing skills to beat a veteran like Kell Brook."

Technically, Brook was bigger than Golovkin...RandomUsername wrote:I think that a case can be made for Kell Brook being a better fighter than GGG. Kell is a welterweight and look at what he did against that middleweight, if not for the size difference then Kell would probably have outclassed GGG from the way that fight looked. Kell Brook P4P#1?
Gennady Golovkin 167.8, Kell Brook 168 - Fight day weights.

Abel's opinion on who will win may turnout to be vindicated but his logic is flawed. "The Carson Jones education?"
That's rich. The Carson Jones that took Brook into deep water and damned near drowned him would not make it to anywhere near the judges with Spence Jr.
Other than Shawn Porter, where is Brook's depth of quality welter weight opposition? The Senchenko that Paulie eviscerated? Bizier? Gavin? Come on, Sanchez.
While Spence Jr. may well be pushing it by going to the UK and taking on who many feel is the top welter in the world at the moment, he has been in with people who would arguably defeat any welter shy of Porter on Kell's resume. Team Spence Jr. aren't fiddle fvcking around like Brook has done with his career. They have ambitious goals and aspirations.
Kell Brook is Team Spence Jr.'s Carson Jones. Errol believes in higher education. Spence Jr. is doing what so many fans have called for, howling and whining, from boxers for several years; he is testing himself against high quality opposition.
He may fail The Battle of Kell Brook exam, but it is abundantly clear that he is unafraid of putting his 0 on the line in the opponent's backyard. Errol is doing exactly what Abel Sanchez is suggesting he should do. He just has a different view on the educational system.
Thank the omnipotent figment of my imagination for Errol Spence Jr.

I think this may be one of the most far fetched things I've heard from Sanchez yet.. Using resume as evidence, to defend one of the weakest resumes in memory, is absurd. The one thing he should have said was, Errol needs a KO because they are gonna do everything possible to give undue credit to Brook every chance they can. It is devoutly wished that Kell Brook receives the true ending that he was mercifully saved from in his last fight.
Re: Golovkin's Trainer: Spence is Not Ready, Brook Will Beat Him
Is Spence the most loved fighter on these boards?
Facts
Brook - fought nobody but Ggg and Porter. Beat one lost to the other 2 weights up. Has beaten a top level opponent in his prime
Spence - fought and beat nobody. Anyone who says Algieri is talking pure shit. Algieri is not a top level welter. People may say he is to big up their guy, but he's not.
The general consensus on these boards is brook gets a tough time as he's fought nobody. He's the only guy in the ring fight night who has beat someone. If you're gonna say spence beats him at least have a theory or don't use backwards logic.
Re ggg vs brook the literally fact may be that brook weighed in heavier. But if I said Prince Naseem Hamed currently weighs as much as David Haye it doesn't make them the same size does it

Re: Golovkin's Trainer: Spence is Not Ready, Brook Will Beat Him
Sanchez is hardly likely to come out and say Spence is to good , Spence is too smart , Spence hits to hard , Spence will murder him .. But of course we did'nt take a easy mark fighting him .. Sanchez will be hoping like fack that Spence does'nt ko Brooks quicker than GGG did ,, sort of take a bit away from GGG won't it .

Ummm, comparing a fat long retired featherweight weighing at Heavyweight to two finely conditioned Boxers the day of a fight. The crappiness speaks for itself.Ossyrules wrote:Go on then happy to discuss what you thinks wrong with any of them points?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:You win the prize.Ossyrules wrote:

Think you've taken the point too literal. It says that because two guys may weigh the same, it doesn't make them the same size, in boxing terms. Tongue in cheek Naz is obviously loads lighter fighting wise to Haye.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Ummm, comparing a fat long retired featherweight weighing at Heavyweight to two finely conditioned Boxers the day of a fight. And there's a reason brook hasn't campaigned at Middle, as he's not a middle he's smaller. He packed on muscle to be as strong as he thought he needed to be at the weight, but he's not a middle now is he.
So if brook on the night of the fight was a pound heavier than GGG doesn't really mean much. He's still a naturally smaller man in that fight.
Re: Golovkin's Trainer: Spence is Not Ready, Brook Will Beat Him
Apologies though I thought comparing a fat 10+ year retired featherweight now matching a cruiser/heavy still fighting wouldn't get taken too seriously!SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Ummm, comparing a fat long retired featherweight weighing at Heavyweight to two finely conditioned Boxers the day of a fight. Analogies are very often offered up in a humorous manner. Yours didn't land, not to mention GGG isn't any bigger than Brook to begin with. You're just wrong all around. As for your post declaring that you're moving on. Color me skeptical.Ossyrules wrote:Says the guy who keeps replying haha! Ok analogy aside, I've let that go as an unfunny post now. On size only, how is brook not the smaller man? He can clearly bulk up to middle. Could GGG do welter?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Analogies are very often offered up in a humorous manner. Yours didn't land, not to mention GGG isn't any bigger than Brook to begin with. They're different ages. The older you get the harder the cut.you think brook will be a welter in 4 years? I guarantee you he'll be a middle then. Ggg is a rare modern fighter that doesn't cut much.Ossyrules wrote:Ok analogy aside, I've let that go as an unfunny post now. On size only, how is brook not the smaller man? I doubt he'll be a welter in the next 2 years mate. But he was a welter before he fought GGG and he's doing welter after GGG. So all that matters really is how big they are around the time they fought.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:They're different ages. GGG is a career middleweight. If he could have fought at welter I'm sure he would have, people normally fight at the lowest weight within reason. Brook is a career welter who I expect to move on 154, possibly after the spence fight tbh. At the time brook fought ggg, he was a welter bulking up, the smaller guy naturally

Re: Golovkin's Trainer: Spence is Not Ready, Brook Will Beat Him
Brook won't be a Welter five minutes after this fight. GGG doesn't cut a lot of weight. There is nothing natural about losing 30 pounds in a month off a rippled frame. The difference is Brook isn't used to fighting the best Middleweight in the world.Ossyrules wrote:I doubt he'll be a welter in the next 2 years mate.
