Daniel Dubois
Daniel Dubois
Daniel Dubois to box Sheffield's David Howe as part of the Terry Flanagan vs. Petr Petrov card.
Quite happy with this, especially for a debut, much rather see Dubois in with Howe than some tubby Hungarian who shouldn't be anywhere near a boxing ring.

Re: Daniel Dubois
Yeah that's a decent fight for his debut! Glass chin but very awkward

Suprised Howe is back out again so soon only a month after Allen ko'd him.
It's a proper test right off the bat for Dubois, fair play.
I would have thought be would have had a nerve tester against an eastern European bum...

Re: Daniel Dubois
Good bit of match making by warren. If he handles Howe in impressive fashion (which is probably going to happen) then people will already be comparing him to Allen after only his first fight

Frank must be really confident that Dubois is the real deal.

This is good news, no messing around. Hearn was gonna do the same with Okolie & Henshaw but he got whacked.

Fwank rarely makes mistakes, especially in the early stages. This has Dubois KO1 written all over it

Re: Daniel Dubois
Its great to see a debutant from England facing another UK opponant. There out there and close by so no need to go to Bulgaria.
As others have said its a great match this one

Re: Daniel Dubois
Another quality prospect in the UK's strongest division, lets hope Warren gets plenty of domestic opposition for this guy.

6 figure signing on fee from what's been reported, serious money for a relatively unproven amateur.ScottDetonator wrote:Frank must be really confident that Dubois is the real deal.

Wow, that said I heard some Seriously great things about Dubois from people in the amateur fold! Meant to be the real deal, forget Joshua!
Re: Daniel Dubois
Dubois was the lad who battered Joshua in sparring, not Okolie, despite what the rumours were. Been told off several solid sources that Rob McCracken ended the spar early as Joshua was all over the place.TopGun wrote:expe wrote:6 figure signing on fee from what's been reported, serious money for a relatively unproven amateur.ScottDetonator wrote:Frank must be really confident that Dubois is the real deal.

He's absolutely huge and only 19 years old, GB had their hopes pinned on him for Gold at the next Olympics, FW has obviously spotted something to splash the cash this early.

Dave Allen saying the Dave Howe fight isn't happening. Bit of a shame

Re: Daniel Dubois
Ta, whys he putting such an effort into this show I wonder ? Normally the Smith fight would headline, and same with the TF fight too, plus some good names on undercard ...maybe cause he realises the lightweight title fight is substandard ( again ) so he's bulking up the rest of the cardScoops wrote:BT Sport 1, Saturday April 8th at 8.30pmMightyWarrior wrote:its shaping up to be a very good card, what's the deal, first big show on BT, or is it PPV ?
Re: Daniel Dubois
Daniel is a good prospect, he has been boxing since a child which gives him an advantage over most of the modern big guys who start boxing late.
He has a very good jab and good power!
Physically he is more Lennox than Joshua !
Joshua is a super fast twitch beast who has presumably lifted a lot to fill out his frame the last 5 years, Dubois is a well coordinated, naturally strong, big dude !
Still only 19, so there are obviously things he doesn't do quite right but there is plenty of time to polish his skills , importantly he has a good head on his shoulders, is disciplined and loves the game !

Re: Daniel Dubois
Haven't seen much of him myself but he seems very highly rated and Warren is obviously convinced by him. Look forward to see how he progresses.

There's absolutely nothing substandard about Flanagan-Petrov. You're not the only one to suggest it, but how is it a bad fight?

Re: Daniel Dubois
Well substandard in the sense that Tel REALLY needs a recognisable, grab your attention name, after his DULL as hell send you to sleep, title defences over the last year and a half: The momentum he had from that fantastic title winning effort has disappeared. Maybe Petrov is going to provide fireworks, but on the face of it he looks like just another of the 100's of very decent Russians who I've never heard of.
Re: Daniel Dubois
At the time, Easter Jr, Linares, Crolla, Garcia and Zlaticanin all had fights booked in, Luke Campbell turned down a big offer from the Flanagan camp for the fight.MightyWarrior wrote:Well substandard in the sense that Tel REALLY needs a recognisable, grab your attention name, after his DULL as hell send you to sleep, title defences over the last year and a half: The momentum he had from that fantastic title winning effort has disappeared. Ruling out the above, who does that leave you? Petrov highly ranked in all the governing bodies and from what I've heard, is now Flanagan's mandatory as Verdejo has withdrawn from the position.
So, with so many of the above booked up, who could you realistically select for Flanagan?
