He could have boxed Brook at Wembley stadium for a career high purse but chose to box feather-fisted Algieri in a sectioned off arena for a fraction of the purse 8 days before.

I'm not saying Khan is perfect here; he obviously took an easier fight than Brook to keep his name in the frame for Floyd. It's no different really to Hatton deciding to avoid the dangerous but largely unknown in America Junior Witter for the years when he was chasing Floyd as well.

Brook could be said to have done something similar in fairness. He obviously is desperate for the Khan fight but has he chased a Thurman, Garcia or Pacquaio fight since he became world champion? No. Instead we get Dan, Gavin and Bizier.

How many great wins does Brook have though? Brook has beaten Porter and thats it.
I'm not sure as to why folk keep bringing Brook in to it? We're talking about Khan. Khan has had massive advantages in his career 99% of fighters can only dream of. Yeah he's talented and worked hard but he's bought in to his own hype and he comes across as if he's an elite level fighter and the fact of the matter is he isn't close. He has an arrogance and sense of entitlement that rubs people up the wrong way. He's wasted arguably his best years talking tripe and treading water. There's big fights there for him but he looks down on fighters and tries to make out as if they're unworthy of sharing a ring with him.

I'd wage good money his next fight is against another fuckin sub standard bottom dweller who can't punch for shít. Amir should've learned the lesson years ago of shutting up and letting his boxing do the talking. He's a frustrating guy and IMO becomes more unlikeable as time goes on. I used to be a fan and have travelled and spent my hard earned money on him on numerous occasions but I cannot go the guy at all now.
Because Khan and Brook are inevitably linked. It's like Brook has some god given right to fight Khan, he doesnt. Its like Hatton chose not to fight Witter. Brook is desperate for that payday hence why Brook and Khan kept chasing him non stop. Khan wasnt fussed. He'd rather lose out on a big payday so Brook doesnt get one, because he doesnt like him. Khan still has a superior resume of wins up to now. If Brook beats Spence then he surpasses Khan.

He's beaten more than that.

Khan has got one of the best records in British boxing over the last decade, so slagging his record off is ridiculous.
100% agree - his resume is on a par with anyone (bar Froch) from our shores in the last 25 years.

Nobody has looked as desperate and delusional pursuing a payday as Khan.....so a little unfair to pick on Kell Brook who has been pretty reasonable.

This is not really Hatton -Witter.....it was clear Hatton was superior to Witter......with Brook and Khan.....it is a natural domestic superfight.....Brook has beaten a guy in Porter far better than anyone Khan has beaten his own career.

Porter is a guy with incredible physical tools and talent but he doesn't really have a trainer and corner........Brook beating him was right up there with the British world title wins like Minter-Antuofermo, Hatton -Tyzu

Brook has been linked with a Pacquiao fight and Hearn spoke to Haymon about Garcia but he priced himself out. Khan has ducked Brook for 3 years hence Brook fighting GGG and Spence who you conveniently forgot.

I bow down to your superior knowledge old boy ;) ... if you say you'd pick Porter to beat Maidana then it must be true.

Regarding Mayweather-Maidana, a decent number of people thought Maidana won the first fight. Thats why there ended up being a rematch. How many fighters did Floyd rematch?!

mayweather beat maidana by a landslide both times. Sure marcos put pressure on etc but he still lost the rounds.

As limited as Maidana is, Porter is multi dimensional he can box and move and has fast hands and he can be a relentless rough and tough slugger with fantastic work rate....He's a very muscular stromg WW too.

Just imagine if a Eddie Futch was alive and training this guy today...... :box:

Getting back to Khan.......

Whats frustrating is....this guy for all of the amateur style that's hounded him most his career has in his career briefly poutboxed Garcia made him look a rank amateur, was outboxing canelo thumping him hard and making him miss...and both times he lost concentration....and got knocked out.

The screwing by Peterson was criminal.

My point is I think an active, motivated, FOCUSED and HUMBLE Khan can come back and beat Garcia and Peterson....he needs to take those fights....

Right now Kell is too much for him. He needs to beat one of the above first to get me confident in him again.

Ive never seen Porter show immense boxing. Every single significant fight he's won (Alexander, Broner, Malignaggi) and even the fight he lost (Brook) he did it fighting with immense pressure. His technique against Brook was horrendous. He just wailed away throwing wild hooks and falling straight into clinches. He wasnt cleverly working his way into the inside.

His best performance was probably Thurman and he still couldnt put a dent in him. Thurman held a lot less than Brook did aswell.

You don't have to take it as gospel mate :maybe: I think Porter would beat Maidana. It's a difference of opinion. Regarding the first Floyd Maidana match, I've not seen anyone who's opinion I value say that Maidana won that. I've heard a few people say Maidana won but it was a mixture of casuals and Floyd haters. Well done to him though. He done well enough to merit a rematch but I don't think you can make an arguement for him winning the fight.

It's not about conveniently forgetting them, more that Pacquaio, for all 'talks have happened' hasn't actually happened as a fight, and Spence is scheduled to happen.

If you went back to the day Kell won the title and said he'll defend the title three times in two years against Dan, Gavin and Bizier you'd be very disappointed. I don't blame him for the Golovkin fight; it's the same deal as Khan Canelo. But if Khan hasn't been taking many risks neither has Kell to be fair.

As you know Brook nearly lost his life in a stabbing. Dan and Bizier were manadatories. Gavin got promoted to no.1 because Khan and Bradley didn't want to become mandatory. Khan became no.1 with the WBC but didn't want that fight either.
Khan is in his fifth year as a welterweight and has managed to avoid any of the champions and only boxed 2 welterweights.

Its subtle clever moves and angles he uses in his boxing.does not come in at straight angles and lines.he feints draws counters which he slips and than crashes in his own fast counters....he outjabs guys ...he uses clever pivots....you have to have a certain knowledge of having bpxed to truly appreciate this...or be the sort of fan who can pick these things out....he demonstrated all of them versus alexander.....and broner....he did look wild against thurman and was poor by his standards against brook......this is my very point .....with his gifts ....a more old school disciplinarian would bring out the best in him.....but sadly the world of boxing training is not at its best these days

Khan waits for big fights because he is one shot away from The Hitman Shuffle v any competent pro. He knows it. His team knows it. Stay busy fights are far more risky for Khan than other top flight boxers.

I'd agree with that.

And re some of the earlier posts in this thread, this week's Boxing News interview with Khan makes depressing reading both in terms of the money situation and the fact that he is talking about "legacy" (ugh) rather than getting his hands on a title and re-establishing himself.

It was still a voluntary defence though. Gavin wouldn't have been the number with and thus mandatory without fighting a final eliminator first. Even if a Bradley turned the fight down. Gavin would have had to fight the next person in the rankings next to the number 1 contender which he never did.

http://www.BS.com/ibf-clarify- ... ion--89490

With Gavin currently sitting pretty at number five in the current ratings, he fits the remit of an optional defence so is in the running for a fight with Brook should the Sheffield-based boxer opt for a quick fire defence of the belt he won by out-pointing Shawn Porter in August.

Lol at legacy!!

An also ran in the Olympics and an also ran in the pros.

You have to ask yourself in the 1980s would he even have been a paper titleist? WBA/WBC/IBF at welterweight.....that would have meant getting by SRL/Hearns/Duran/Benitez/Curry/Starling/Breland/Honeyghan and Brown. All of whom had the power to knock him out.

It gets worse the further back you go.

Even winning a paper title in the 1990s would probably have been beyond him if he had to fight a JCC/Randall/ODLH/Trinidad/Quartey/Mosley/Forrest/Mayorga

There's no way Maidana won that fight sorry. In any case the version of Maidana that beat Broner and fought Floyd was night and day compared to the version Khan fought. Maidana had improved considerably since then.
