And re some of the earlier posts in this thread, this week's Boxing News interview with Khan makes depressing reading both in terms of the money situation and the fact that he is talking about "legacy" (ugh) rather than getting his hands on a title and re-establishing himself.

You have to ask yourself in the 1980s would he even have been a paper titleist? WBA/WBC/IBF at welterweight.....that would have meant getting by SRL/Hearns/Duran/Benitez/Curry/Starling/Breland/Honeyghan and Brown. All of whom had the power to knock him out.

It gets worse the further back you go.

Even winning a paper title in the 1990s would probably have been beyond him if he had to fight a JCC/Randall/ODLH/Trinidad/Quartey/Mosley/Forrest/Mayorga

He's never even been a belt holder at welterweight now, he held his titles at 140, at least criticise him correctly.

Jab, used the jab more, footwork, combinations. Have you watched him before a part from when he fought Khan and Floyd? The fact you're asking makes me doubt you've seen him more than a couple of times.

Robert Garcia improved him there's no doubt about that.

Amir is a very good fighter.

Always has been. Yes he has some fundamental flaws in that his chin isn't the best and he isn't the most intelligent fighter but in saying all of that he's won world titles, beaten some very very good fighters and I suspect if he were to fight Errol Spence and wipe the floor with him, people on here would deride Spence as being another Jeff Lacy.

However, if/when Brook does the same soon that win will be applauded beyond belief.

Some people are blinkered because they don't like the person involved.

I didn't like Roy Keane, however I can reconcile with the fact that he was a brilliant footballer.

Khan's resume, Froch aside is the best from these shores for a long time.

Would Khan have been able to make it to the top by taking Froch's route, i.e. clobbering hard men one after another? That means the boy who was decked heavily by Willie Limond going through Johnny Thaxton, Yuri Romanov, John Murray et al without a mistake. Seems unlikely.

Hatton's win over Zoo alone trumps anything Khan has done. Other than scraping past Maidana, his wins are all B level.

One look at the run of lightweights, light welters and welters in the 90s (not to mention the monstrous 80s) really puts Khan in perspective. Froch and Hatton would be in the mix in their respective divisions. But Khan?

How many 17 year old British Olympic silver medallists has their been in boxing? Yes, he got a lot of backing but there was good reason.

Also whilst Hatton did beat Tszyu, he beat up a washed up version of the once great and also got away with a lot of dirty fighting which he wouldn't have gotten away with if the fight had occurred in the US I imagine.

We had two bleedin years of his lies about money-khan was the fight the world was holding its breath for and " people will forever wonder what would happen if Amir Khan fought floyd mayweather" than we had the money grab with canelo, than the chasing of a 79 year old manny, now hes trying to jump the queue to a underserved money fight with Mcgregor.......the guy is shameless he has been knocked out 4 times , and in a decade of fighting hes beaten a grand total of two top ten 140-147 lbs fighters..............at this point he should consider himself lucky to be in the reckoning for a brook fight but no.......khan wants the A list....but has done nothing to earn it

Khan has got one of the best records in British boxing over the last decade, so slagging his record off is ridiculous.
