Nicola Adams debut.

Post by Mimmy »

Im quite surprised that the opponant for Adams isnt a few notches better than what she has been matched with.

The flyweight division has only 117 female boxers fighting in the world but I dont see the test in this opponant. Adams could well only need half a dozen fights before a world title shot in this division and while I know she has to begin somewhere I just cant see what this lass is gong to bring to the party. Even with a record of 4-2-1 she has only had 1 fight worth of note and she was beaten in that fight last time out quite easily on points. For an Olympic Gold medalist this fight is a bit under par in my opinion.

Adams is one of the Media's favourite pets. The storyline for her career will have already been written in full.

Whats makes the opponent tough? How can you judge how tough she is from her record?

womens boxing is a joke, so it doesnt really matter. doesnt take much to be a belt holder (cant even bring myself to call them world champion), yet you can be sure everyone with a hand in the till will be shouting just as loudly as if it was legitimate.

adams is a butch curiousity, thats all...something to pass the time before the big fights come on.

I agree.

Although I like Adams (she is polite and smiley and humble and all that) I am just not interested in her pro career

For me, and I'm old fashioned, women's boxing is what I'd call a 'participatory sport'. In other words, if women want to box each other then fair enough, go ahead and compete and enjoy yourself. Personally, I wouldn't open the curtains to my back door to watch Nicola or any other female boxer. It does absolutely nothing for me.

Something we can agree on for a change.

I dont mind watching women boxing if they are decent at their game. Adams and Taylor are decnt lasses. Womens beach volleyball is great to watch as some of those girls cant half hit the ball over the net.

I think if you dont care much for womens sports I see no need to reply telling people to be honest just walk on by really.

Right - so I'm a mysoginist for not wanting to watch women beat each other senseless, assault each other, cut each other, render each other unconscious.

Great logic.

I bet you're the kind of guy who likes to watch women in drunken cat fights on you tube and comment on their technique and whether they scored a clean knockout...

Well done. At least now I know you're certified insane, so I no longer have to read your posts.

I can't believe I'm defending Horse (an all time first for me). It's certainly misogynistic if you thought women should not be allowed to box. If you just don't particularly line it yourself, that's a simple matter of preference.

Perhaps it doesn't make you a mysoginist. Certainly makes you sexist though. Unless you don't want to watch men box either, of course.

No one forces anyone to watch it. Using any thread relating to women's boxing to post how much you don't like women's boxing is a bit of a dickhead thing to do, imo.

One thing you can't deny here guy's,whether you like it or not a woman's body is not designed,as far reproduction (ovaries, breasts etc)for getting hit, simple as!!.
By the way no chance of man being found pregnant

Male bodies are designed for reproduction as well to be fair.

And no bodies are designed for getting hit. You could argue that with less ability to generate power women's boxing is far safer for the participants than men's.
