Michael Hunter Jr. ?

Post by ValMar »

Has anybody watched this guy ? What do you think about him ? I read that his father had been a quite solid HW, but honestly, I couldn't remember him. Has Jr. more than 1% chance to upset Usyk ?

I think Hunter would likely beat any other cruiserweight except Usyk.

It will be a competitive fight, and there is a chance of an upset.

He was a good amateur who twice won the US Olympic Trials (once at SHW, once at HW). He beat Oscar Rivas, stopped Andy Ruiz, and at the 2016 Olympics lost by the slimmest of margins to Beterbiev.

There is a visual breakdown of him as a pro over at this forum: http://www.the13thround.com/phpBB2/view ... 301&hilit=

Agreed, but I think Hunter is being rushed into this fight. He hasnt faced anywhere near to caliber of comp that Usyk has!! Could set back his development significantly if he gets blown out. I dont think he beats ANY other cruiser at this point but he's probably top 5 or 6.

That sounds so funny when the only semi-decent opponent Hunter faced was Thomas who quit against Gassiev, but of course Hunter would LIKELY beat Gassiev

Yes, they fought in a Dual Match in England in 2006 while they were still juniors. Both had picked up a bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in Marocko some months before their bout which Fury won by 2-1 decision.

Hunter has some good boxing skills. I believe he can give Usyk some trouble for 7-8 rounds. Then we'll see.
