Again, I think AJ will win. But I also think it stupid to count Wlad out...

Re: AJ's opponents vs Wlads
A bit off topic but yesterday I watched a young Cassius Clay's early fight against Billy Daniels, Clay was 13-0, Daniels was 16-0 and Clay won TKO7 due to Daniels suffering a cut, which from the grainy footage I seen didn't look that bad,Clay was booed heavily, either way Clay looked pretty mediocre throughout, I thought whilst watching it imagine if Joshua had a performance like this at that stage of his career he'd be ridiculed
I had a look at Daniels record, it was something like 23-22 but he fought pretty much everyone who is anyone of 60s/70s HW boxing

I'm struggling to see the point of this thread tbh...Joshua is still a relative novice with 18 fights, why is his resume being compared against an opponent who has been professional for over 20 years, reigned as world champion for over 10 years and has had nearly 70 pro fights? Obviously Joshua's resume will be weaker, but that means absolutely fvck all at this stage of their respective careers.

Read the whole thread, get some context, then you'll see you're talking crap, and you can stop wasting our time and padding out this thread with nonsenseBitPlayer wrote:Okay, so you're not arguing that they're resumes are comparable you're just defending an argument that says exactly that.Ossyrules wrote:If you can see where I'm arguing that AJs cv is better than Furys pre Wlad I'd like to see it.

I do think it is disappointing when people use "fan boy" type comments, on what is meant to be a rational debate on boxing matters.
For reasons I've posted elsewhere, I personally think Joshua will walk through Wlad very early. Doesn't make him the second coming of Lennox Lewis (incidentally, some of us probably saw Wlad on the undercard of a Lewis fight, different levels completely ), and if I'm wrong I will happily debate in intelligent criticism.

Vlad had been champion for 10 years , Ok his best days were / are gone , but there is still enough in the tank , Then he comes against Fury , he has a bad camp with his sick wife , ect , and meats the qwuickest most ackward opponent out there and loses ,, So everyone writes him off has shop soiled , never that good anyway , and assumes , a big steroid head , slow footed puncher is gonna ko him ,, based on his one bad performance , and the fact steroid head has been ko'ing spoon fed opponents ,
I've got a feeling a revitalized Vlad , with a good camp behind him this time is gonna , put an end to Hearn's hype machine , and actually stop AJ

Re: AJ's opponents vs Wlads
I had a vivid dream last night that Wlad knocked AJ out inside a minute with a straight right. The fight was in a gym hall though. I'm gonna have to stick a score on at the bookies now.

Re: AJ's opponents vs Wlads
I see AJ walking through him early (first 5 rounds).
Wlad can't pull the trigger anymore. Jennings and Fury he looked like a rabbit in the headlights. Difference here is Joshua can punch.
Physically Wlad has deteriorated quickly and just as fast mentally aswell probably due to his out of the ring problems.
I'd also back the majority of the Boxrec top 10 to beat this version of Wlad aswell.

Re: AJ's opponents vs Wlads
The point is what has AJ faced similar to Wlad? Absolutely nobody. If for example Wlad catches AJ early, how do we know AJ won't become timid like Wlad is? Everybody is assuming AJ is this fearless, iron chinned, warrior, when the fact is that he himself does not take a punch well, as seen in the AMS, and vs Whyte, and Wlad will be by far the hardest puncher he has faced.Boxerbeetle wrote:I'm struggling to see the point of this thread tbh...Joshua is still a relative novice with 18 fights, why is his resume being compared against an opponent who has been professional for over 20 years, reigned as world champion for over 10 years and has had nearly 70 pro fights? Some scenarios:
AJ blows Wlad out early. His best chance IMO
AJ feels the power and backs off, which it a real possibility, then loses via jabathon
Who is AJ sparring by the way? Do we know who Wlad is sparring too?

AJ are one from Whyte for sure and got heavy legs. What's the amateur stuff you talk of? Hopefully not the amateur fight vs Whyte where he was dropped? His 4th ever bout. No junior pedigree that's it. Either it's hardly evidence of a glass jaw, majority of top fighters have had there moments, in heavyweight it's riskier business too.
The best thing is we get to see in a few weeks

Re: AJ's opponents vs Wlads
The only way you can make any comparison between opponents is look at who AJ has fought so far in his short career & see who Wladimir had fought.
18 fights into his career & Wladdy had fought absolutely no-one. Obviously now he's sitting at nearly seventy fights & a lengthy title run he has some notable names on his CV but he was built very carefully & didn't fight recognised names until he had over 30 fights.
Obviously we can argue about the strength of the heavyweight division nowadays but it was hardly anything special back in the late nineties either.

Re: AJ's opponents vs Wlads
Most of us had Price to kill Fury 2/3 years ago. AJ is not the 2nd coming of Ali. He may get a reality check if Wlad touches him early. AJ has NOT been tested! Wlad knows his own weaknesses and adjusted. Since then nobody has got close to dominating him other than Fury, who fought to win in his own way.
Re: AJ's opponents vs Wlads
It took Wlad less than 3 years to get to 30-1 and he was WBO champion after less than 4 years.moogie101 wrote:The only way you can make any comparison between opponents is look at who AJ has fought so far in his short career & see who Wladimir had fought.

Wlad was not moved along particularly slowly.
Re: AJ's opponents vs Wlads
I wasn't talking about length of career but amount of fights & clearly stressed that in my post. AJ was champion in three years in only his 16th fight whilst at a similar point in his career Wlad was still fighting 8 rounders against unknowns. Wlad was moved along slowly in regards to being kept away from any credible threats for as long as possible, whilst for all his faults Hearn certainly took a chance putting an untested AJ in a title shot so early.Horse wrote:It took Wlad less than 3 years to get to 30-1 and he was WBO champion after less than 4 years.moogie101 wrote:The only way you can make any comparison between opponents is look at who AJ has fought so far in his short career & see who Wladimir had fought.

And you were wrong to stress it.moogie101 wrote:I wasn't talking about length of career but amount of fights & clearly stressed that in my post.
Wlad had his 1st scheduled 12 rounder less than 1 year and 3 months after his debut.moogie101 wrote:AJ was champion in three years in only his 16th fight whilst at a similar point in his career Wlad was still fighting 8 rounders against unknowns.
Joshua had his first scheduled 12 rounder over 1 year and 11 months after his debut.
Time is more important than the number of fights, as far as who was getting moved along quicker.
"As long as possible"? What nonsense.moogie101 wrote:Wlad was moved along slowly in regards to being kept away from any credible threats for as long as possible, whilst for all his faults Hearn certainly took a chance putting an untested AJ in a title shot so early.
Re: AJ's opponents vs Wlads
Klitschkos resume smashes Joshua's joke of a resume to bits but at this stage I feel it means nothing
Re: AJ's opponents vs Wlads
The debate is good as we genuinely do not know what will happen. How many times are we able we say that these days?
Big bro Vitali is the ideal man to spar Wlad for this. He can walk Wlad down and put it on him a bit. I just think the Klits are too clever between them to not work out a gameplan and drill it to death. They know exactly what they are facing in AJ, but AJ won't know which Wlad turns up. It's a gameplan fight for Wlad,
I support AJ being a Brit, but I just don't think he's faced a man as big, and as good as Wlad, even a fading Wlad, who will keep him on the outside, and ram that hard jab in his face. AJ does not have Fury's unorthodox style which now seems to be Wlads Kryptonite. I don't think AJ could keep that style up for 12 rounds without gassing anyway.
How many as big, and as good a fighters has AJ knocked out? Most of his wins were standing TKO's stopped by the 'home' ref, and against men 4 inches shorter.
