Arum gives Pacquiao wednesday deadline to decide on Horn fight
Arum Tired of Waiting, Gives Pacquiao Deadline To Decide on Horn
Australian boxer Jeff Horn will find out this week if his fight with Manny Pacquiao in July is finally to become a reality.
Bob Arum has placed a Wednesday deadline on Pacquiao deciding if he'll fight Horn.
"They have to make a decision by Wednesday (Thursday Manila time)," Arum told the Manila Bulletin.
Arum is keen on a Horn-Pacquiao bout that is back on the cards after an agreement for the pair to face off in April was torn up as Pacquiao unsuccessfully chased a lucrative deal against Amir Khan in the UAE.
They were slated to fight at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium.
Arum said if Pacquiao decides against meeting Horn in July, his next fight would likely be in November.

Pacquiao Adviser Says Pacquiao-Horn Deal Is Being Finalized For July 2
Manny Pacquiao’s adviser, Michael Koncz, says a deal for Pacquiao to face Australia’s Jeff Horn should be finalized by the end of this week.
Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter, issued a Thursday deadline earlier this week for Pacquiao to let him know if he would fight Horn on July 2 in Brisbane, Australia.
Koncz, Pacquiao’s apparently got the answer from Pacquiao that Arum has sought since the beginning of this year.

PACQUIAO-HORN TO BE FINALIZED BY WEEK’S END, SAYS KONCZ
Two days after being handed a deadline to accept the fight or sit out until November, Manny Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz says it “looks like” they’ll fight undefeated Australian Jeff Horn on July 2.
“We are finalizing the terms,” Koncz says in a text message on Thursday, March 30, the deadline Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum had given Pacquiao’s side to agree to the fight. Koncz adds the deal “should be finalized by end of week.”
Arum had earlier said that Pacquiao (59-6-2, 38 knockouts) had to make a decision because the Australian financiers already had their money on the table. Arum says he’s looking at putting the fight at the Suncorp Stadium in Horn’s hometown of Brisbane, Australia but didn’t mention a financial figure for the fight.
Arum had said it looked unlikely that Pacquiao would be fighting in the United States again, unless a big fight materialized, due to his declining pay-per-view figures. He told the outlet that Pacquiao also had offers to fight in Qatar and South Africa later this year.
Pacquiao, 38, hasn’t fought since last November when he defeated Jessie Vargas to win the 147-pound belt. The 29-year-old Horn last fought in December, stopping former title challenger Ali Funeka in six rounds.
Everything except for a Pacquiao signature appeared to be in order for a fight against Horn (16-0-1, 11 KOs) on April 29 but that date fell by the wayside as Pacquiao went chasing a fight with Amir Khan in the United Arab Emirates. That fight also fell through when the $38 million being promised by UAE investors never materialized.

Starting to look like a goer now.
Re: Arum gives Pacquiao wednesday deadline to decide on Horn fight
I'll believe it when he signs on the dotted line
Certainly been a roller coaster up to this point....
If it does go ahead i really hope they put together a card worthy of an event at suncorp stadium.... may actually be the first big card for some time in this part of the world where the undercard isnt riddled with players from the footy codes...

Well it seems Pac has signed for the bout against Horn on the 2nd of July, with just the finer details between promoters to be ironed out. Arum said he expects a capacity 55k attendance at Suncorp, which i think is atleast close to achievable. I think the big winner here is Australian boxing... a chance to raise its profile again.... if a success, Arum suggests interest in future bouts in this part of the world, im guessing NZ would be in that equation. Hopefully will also be a good boost for Qld tourism after the god awful weather of the past coupla weeks.
Astonishingly its not on a Wednesday night
Even in winter... early afternoon in the Qld sun should make it interesting....

The reason they are scheduling for Sunday afternoon is it coincides with a prime-time Saturday night telecast into the USA.Tinnie wrote:http://www.latimes.com/sports/boxing/la ... story.html

Re: Arum gives Pacquiao wednesday deadline to decide on Horn fight
Why? Either way I can see a sizable crowd showing up.... cant speak for Brisbane, but Sydney has a large population of Filipino residents.... and if they're not boxing fans, rest assured they're still Pacquiao fans.... also considering I cant recall a Pac fight in the Philippines in atleast the last 10 odd years (certainly not since he was p4p no.1), closest being Macau.... and his impending retirement.... it may well be his last fight in Asia...AntonS wrote:Tinnie wrote:http://www.latimes.com/sports/boxing/la ... story.html
