Re: AJ's opponents vs Wlads
Matching stats never works.
Especially when looking at heavyweights.
Just look at Brezeale's last fight. He won, but was totally dominated right up until the last two rounds.
AJ has had his own way in all 18 fights, Wlad has been pushed further by some of his last 18 fights- including losing.
It's a 50/50 fight, and I can't wait!

No, I took the time to tell you there is always a top level and Holyfield wasn't it by 40. And yes, Wlad was abysmal against Fury; but he would have still had enough to beat over 40 Holyfield which was the whole point I disputed in the first place.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:so you were just taking the time to tell me there are always top contenders? Too each their own. #1 doesn't necessarily = elite for me. Wlad was clearly the best of his era, historically he's nothing special. Vitali is virtually nonexistent.
That's almost double what Holy landed on the great Sultan Ibragimov, isn't it?Tuan_Jim wrote:
Later on Holyfield did actually manoeuvre the monstrous Valuev for 12 rds with more skill & finesse than either David Haye or Chagaev could muster. Savarese he just beat up and decked a couple of times. Seem to remember him putting Oquendo on his arse in the first too. Wouldn't surprise me at all if a Holy of those fights, with both arms working, outsmarted the gormless Wladimir or Tyson '82 Punches Landed' Fury.![]()
Aside from that I remember him landed little against Fres Oquendo either. Decided to have a quick look see and he landed 92. At least Fury has the excuse of being in the with best Heavy since Lewis at his utmost tentative. Holy wasn't in with anyone special in either of those outings.
Re: AJ's opponents vs Wlads
Holyfield did next to nothing in the second half of his bout with the glacial, light hitting Valuev. A lot of people were cheerleading him in that one and have greatly exaggerated how well he did.
In his 40s he was also beaten down by Toney, squeaked past Fres with a debatable decision, got routed by Ibragimov and Donald, did only a bit better against Byrd, at 46 needed to come from behind against shot Botha, and at 47 was even getting rocked and beaten by Sherman Williams ffs. His best win since 2002 is probably that brawl with Savarese
Wlad and Fury would've beaten him handily, and it's not them being overrated here...

Ya, if Wlad and Fury were bad, what was Holyfield against shot Botha and Sherman Williams? Would those guys give Wlad and Fury hell?punchoutsb wrote:No, I took the time to tell you there is always a top level and Holyfield wasn't it by 40.
