Canelo: 'For me, Jacobs won by two or three points, but this is our sport.' - gingerboy commone sense
"We already knew what was going to happen. For me, Jacobs won by two or three points, but this is our sport. The judges decided that [Golovkin is the winner] and [their decision] is respected,"Canelo told Eduard Cauich.
Canelo is saying anything to downplay Golovkin's rating but he forgot that Lara outboxed him [Canelo].

It’s impossible to deny that the outcome of the Golovkin-Jacobs fight was moderately controversial, since there is a portion of fight fans and boxing experts that believed the American deserved to emerge victorious against the Kazakh. Fair enough, it wasn’t a robbery and it’s not unreasonable to lay claim that GGG deserved his victory, but regardless… this doesn’t render Canelo’s opinion on the matter worthless, since he's only saying things that other people have already said.
I believe that Canelo earned his victory over Lara, but I also appreciate the reasoning for some people to believe the Cuban deserved to gain the nod.
Let’s not go down the route whereby every single fighter you “hate” always loses close contests, where a robbery was committed, whilst those boxers that you “love” always deserve their wins by a huge margin, with justice being served. Reality is the only thing that matters.
In regards to Canelo’s comments, he could have either provided an honest answer to a question posed to him during an interview or he simply made a provocative comment to help drum-up public interest in an inevitable bout against Golovkin.
A lot of fighters adopt WWE-style tactics to help sell fights, so let’s not get too emotional about the so-called "controversial nature" of Canelo’s comments.

I thought GGG deserved a close decision, but no question Danny Jacobs fought a very good fight in his own right and showed why he was widely considered the #1 Contender to Golovkin in the division. Still is. He's certainly deserving of a rematch, I'd just like to see GGG vs Saunders or Canelo first.

Canelo keeps looking for excuses to duck Golovkin AGAIN.

Canelo is salivating at a fight with a 37-38 y/o Golovkin.

Canelo is Floyding GGG - he will say anything or do anything to try to discredit a fighter he fears and knows he will lose to

Better than learning from Golovkin who just prices himself out of all of the best fights.apollo creed wrote:Yup, he learnt a lot from Floyd in terms of have all the advantages and cherrypicking at the right time.

Apart from not having all the belts, or the lineal title.

Isn't GingerHead the one who claims to be too small for MW, even though he is fighting at SMW in May and held an MW belt until he gave it up without a fight?
Re: Canelo: 'For me, Jacobs won by two or three points, but this is our sport.' - gingerboy commone sense
And only about 3 wins against top 5 ranked opposition in a fairly weak division.BitPlayer wrote:But he roolz his divisun!!!

He's hardly a dominating juggernaut.
Mayweather used to take the short money until he didn't have to any more, but he is the one criticised by these people!

If Canelo lost the decision to Lara (which many people believe should have happened), he would not be thought of so highly. I think Chavez Jr. is going to give him a tough fight. Canelo should be focused on his upcoming fight rather than Golovkin's fight which most people believe he deserved to win.

Golovkin defeated everybody who dared to get into the ring with him. MW lineal title is worthless, and the only reason Golovkin doesn't have the 4th belt is that first Quillin was hiding and then Saunders was.Horse wrote:And only about 3 wins against top 5 ranked opposition in a fairly weak division.BitPlayer wrote:But he roolz his divisun!!!

Hell no. Ortiz, for example, wanted Wilder and didn't get him.BitPlayer wrote:So has Deonty WIlder.boxing_rocks wrote:Golovkin defeated everybody who dared to get into the ring with him.

Oh, so all the people GGG could have fought and didn't was just because they were scared. This is just apologetics.boxing_rocks wrote:Hell no. Yes, they were. Scared to lose their belts, scared to have a KO loss on their records, scared to look levels below.BitPlayer wrote:Oh, so all the people GGG could have fought and didn't was just because they were scared. Way things have been going lately none of the top boys have won convincingly enough or at all.
Kovalev ... Close fight with Ward
Ward ... Close fight with Kovalev
GGG ... Close fight with Jacobs
Gonzalez ... Lost
Canelo has a seemingly easy outing against Chavez, we shall see.

Ward Kovalev I wouldn't pu in that category because they are both such class fighters,Evander wrote:Way things have been going lately none of the top boys have won convincingly enough or at all.

Re: Canelo: 'For me, Jacobs won by two or three points, but this is our sport.' - gingerboy commone sense
Canelo and Golovkin are both come forward fighters. Logically Canelo would favour Golovkin in that fight as Golovkin was coming forward landing the harder shots whilst Jacobs was on the back foot, trying to box, much like the Canelo Lara fight. Unless Canelo thought Lara beat him? If not, I assume he is just trying to discredit Golovkin rather than being genuine. Why would anyone take this persons word? "We Mexicans dont F around, put on the gloves I'll fight him right now".

I think Canelo is being honest in what he is saying that he thought Jacobs won I don't think he is trying to deflect anythink from GGG because Jacobs would give Canelo more then he can handle.
