I didn't like Australia much to be honest. The climate is wonderful, beautiful scenery, but not enough variety in the culture, and sad to say there was a seemingly endemic xenophobia and racism running through the cutlture, even in the big cities. I'm not saying all australians are racist bigots, but there's a high proportion who seem to be.
That's not to say I didn't meet any Australians I liked, because I did, but I though the country as a whole was like Essex with a really nice climate. Really liked bits of it, Ayrlie Beach, Byron Bay, Cairns (margate with nice weather), but thought Sydney was crap, so tiny with massive suburbs and so little variety. Was told I should have gone to Melbourne, but never made it that far.
Sydney is a shit hole. Melbourne is not bad but this side of the country is far better.
