The truth is, no matter who GGG beats, Canelo would be GGG's biggest defining career fight
Even if Golovkin would T/K.O Saunders, Jacobs II and Jermall, there is no doubt that these performances won't match a big-clean victory over Canelo. Like it or not, Canelo is the man to beat. Too bad, Oscar is waiting that Golovkin to turn 40 y/o.
Re: The truth is, no matter who GGG beats, Canelo would be GGG's biggest defining career fight
Unless GingerHead gets beat along the way. SRL would have been Hagler's defining W, but the L really has not hurt him.
Re: The truth is, no matter who GGG beats, Canelo would be GGG's biggest defining career fight
Hopefully Canelo stops jumping weight divisions and plays his part getting the fight made
Re: The truth is, no matter who GGG beats, Canelo would be GGG's biggest defining career fight
..all things considered, GGG's team should be ready to make a compromise and agree to Oscar's demands. Canelo can run but he can't hide...They should get that fight, once/if they win it, Golovkin will be in driver's seat dictating his conditions to all and sundry..

As far as career defining victories go The Star Power of the opponent is usually the biggest factor. Hardcore fans know and respect the other serious contenders, but most people only recognize other big names or star fighters.
That's why in spite of Hopkins' brilliant resume his 2 most significant wins are still Tito and De La Hoya.
He beat other guys that could've beaten them both, but those are always gonna be THE 2 biggest wins on his record.

Golden Boy have already submitted multiple offers to K2 to arrange a fight between Canelo and GGG, but you don't want to acknowledge that do you, since it doesn't fit your preferred narrative?apollo creed wrote:Even if Golovkin would T/K.O Saunders, Jacobs II and Jermall, there is no doubt that these performances won't match a big-clean victory over Canelo. 60-40 % or at least 65-35% from all money (PPV's, tickets, TV rights , etc) is a fair offer.Enlightened-One wrote:Golden Boy have already submitted multiple offers to K2 to arrange a fight between Canelo and GGG, but you don't want to acknowledge that do you, since it doesn't fit your preferred narrative?apollo creed wrote:Even if Golovkin would T/K.O Saunders, Jacobs II and Jermall, there is no doubt that these performances won't match a big-clean victory over Canelo. In terms of commercial numbers, GGG probably deserves less than 30%, since GBP is taking the financial risk by promoting and funding the event and Canelo is a far more popular fighter than Golovkin. K2 won't even have to lift a finger.apollo creed wrote:60-40 % or at least 65-35% from all money (PPV's, tickets, TV rights , etc) is a fair offer.Enlightened-One wrote:Golden Boy have already submitted multiple offers to K2 to arrange a fight between Canelo and GGG, but you don't want to acknowledge that do you, since it doesn't fit your preferred narrative?apollo creed wrote:Even if Golovkin would T/K.O Saunders, Jacobs II and Jermall, there is no doubt that these performances won't match a big-clean victory over Canelo. Fan base shouldn't decide split. I understand it's a business, but the unified champion deserves more respectEnlightened-One wrote:In terms of commercial numbers, GGG probably deserves less than 30%, since GBP is taking the financial risk by promoting and funding the event and Canelo is a far more popular fighter than Golovkin. My opinion, Canelo didn't want it, but after the close Jacobs fight he's getting keener

We know of two offers that GBP have made to K2.Ossyrules wrote:Fan base shouldn't decide split. We don't know of any counter offers that Tom Loeffler has submitted to Oscar De La Hoya.
Please check this yourself and get back to me, because your opinion is solely based on guesswork.

Re: The truth is, no matter who GGG beats, Canelo would be GGG's biggest defining career fight
Without GGG, Oscar and Canelo won't make that big money , so at least 65-35% from all fight incomes should be a decent offer for GGG.
Re: The truth is, no matter who GGG beats, Canelo would be GGG's biggest defining career fight
It is a super fight and the most lucrative fight that can be made in Boxing now and for the foreseeable future, that's for sure. It will be both guys defining career moment and there's too much money on the line for it not to happen. BUT, Canelo is going to have his hands full with a bigger, dangerous and focused JCCJR. That fight is going to be tough enough on Canelo without also having the pressure of screwing up a huge payday with GGG in a loss.
I know...Canelo SHOULD win this fight. Some would say easily but not me. I think that this is going to be an excellent battle and I would not be astonished if JCCJR finds a way to pull it off. It's his last chance at remaining relevant and there's Mexican pride at the highest level on the line. No way will this fight be easy.

I would also enjoy seeing diva # 2 supplant the royal Mexican diva, but Chavez Jr. will be severely drained and over trained. You also cannot turn heart on and off like a light switch.Oiky wrote:i'm really hoping chavez jr can pull it offcaldo2025 wrote:It is a super fight and the most lucrative fight that can be made in Boxing now and for the foreseeable future, that's for sure. Canelo may suffer a series of losses at 160 and above, so a win over him wouldn't be anybody's career defining fight.

Re: The truth is, no matter who GGG beats, Canelo would be GGG's biggest defining career fight
Golovkin vs. Canelo is a super-fight between two PPV fighters that are both rated within the top-ten pound-for-pound list that have also competed in a combined total of thirty world title fights.
Alvarez first captured a world title more than six years ago, whilst GGG competed in his first semi-legitimate world title fight three months prior. And the boxing world has been eagerly awaiting this bout for almost 18 months.
This is a career-defining fight for both men, no matter how you window dress it!

Re: The truth is, no matter who GGG beats, Canelo would be GGG's biggest defining career fight
find it weird that folks in here is believing that gingerchick is number one draw. for at least the last three years golovkins name is far better known and remarked. outside the states and mexico everybody knows who golovkin is. only diehard fans knows who canelo is. k2 will never accept the demands and cuts that hoya is rambling off of him. and why shoulg they. canelo is a joke by now. fight want happen. it no longer has any meaning. or at least the meaning it had before people found out who the fighters really were.
