"When I first started, the aim was to become a multimillionaire. But now there are ordinary people, grandmas and granddads, who are worth millions just because of property prices. So the new school of thought is that I need to be a billionaire. Being a millionaire is good, but you have to set your sights higher. If I'm making £10 million from my next fight, my next target has to be making ten times that. And if I get to £100m-150m, why not go for the billion? I know self-made billionaires. It's hard, but it's possible."
I've read all of Malcolm Gladwell's books, his theory about how wanting a superior team to beat the underdog is a morally superior position was interesting and I suppose it has some basis in truth.
It doesn't really fit in with his "stay humble" persona.
Joshua is ambitious so I respect that, but money is a funny thing. Someone like mcgregor pulls it off cos he's so funny. Mayweather on the other hand just looks arrogant twat. I'm a little surprised by Joshua's words.
Saying that he has massive pulling power/appeal in England that I'm confident will go worldwide if he keeps winning.
Not only would Joshua have to keep winning, he'd have to endorse products and learn a lot about how to keep money. Keeping money can be even more difficult.
I think it's more a throwaway comment concerning ambition as much as a serious plan to earn a billion tbh.
He does have huge pulling power though. PPV figures are always excellent. He ticks a lot of boxes as a promoter
Heavyweight - blue ribbon division
Fighting style - guarantees knockouts and therefore action/drama
Personality - very likeable geezer. Will develop a big fan base I think. Questionable if this trait is one to generate the most money. Ali said he didn't care if people wanted me to lose as long as they bought a ticket. Fighters like mayweather etc, the boxing world tune in as they want him to lose as he's a twat. Hatton has his own fan base, but outside of his own fans not many care about Hatton so much
I feel if Joshua was American it would be another box ticked for being a cash cow. There's nothing bigger in boxing than a top class American heavyweight

Do you find him likeable? I really don't see it.
i don't see it either
He's that fake it's hard to fathom out whether you like him or not! In the Olympics and afterwards I thought he seemed a decent enough guy but he's like a big media robot now.
Reminds of the episode of Father Ted where they train Jack to say a few phrases for the Bishops coming. 'That would be an ecumenical matter'
