Fighters entering the ring 'bone dry'.
Fighters entering the ring 'bone dry'.
It's often referenced, obviously generally when the fighter is on the way to defeat. How does it happen? Do they and their corners forget to warm up? Or can't they be bothered? Or is it when fights happen earlier than expected?
Apologies if this makes me look woefully docile. I've just always wondered.

I usually think of it as a fighter who hasn't made the weight properly, maybe hasnt had the best camp, and so they havent given him the usual routine in the dressing room

I've also heard the phrase used for both as above and not had a proper warm up in the dressing room before a fight.

i always thought Froch looked bone dry, but maybe i'm confusing it with pasty as Fook.
Re: Fighters entering the ring 'bone dry'.
The one that concerns me is bone dry when they have looked drawn at the weigh in. Some fighters still appear to be using saunas, despite the terrible injuries that have occurred to others who have done that. That's the situation I find most worrying.

Sam Eggington does not even have feckin blood in his body
Re: Fighters entering the ring 'bone dry'.
Fighters going in to a fight bone dry is like trying to penetrate an anus bone dry.....you just shouldn't! Or so I'm told ![[icon_knockout.gif] :KO:](./images/smilies/icon_knockout.gif)

Yeah same mate. Apparently he didn't walk around much heavier between fights as well.95gerog wrote:i always thought Froch looked bone dry, but maybe i'm confusing it with pasty as Fook.
Always thought Alex Arthur looked awful when he was at super feather. Recently Lee Selby at the weigh in on for the fight in Vegas looked ghastly man! Looked pretty sharp the other week at super feather though. Makes you wonder how long he can keep making 126.

Sam makes the weight a lot easier than most other champions. They always surprised when hes relaxing on the morning of a fight when most are skipping off last two pounds

During one of Wlads early tko defeats he was described as bone dry, not having a sweat on. Sanders defeat probably. The commentators I should add said that

I thought bone dry was McGregor against Aldo! Stripped of fat & water!
Re: Fighters entering the ring 'bone dry'.
i think older fighters have this tendency as well.the body is so used to the work they do it takes a few rounds of an actual fight to get the body working hard enough to start sweating.
