Sir Humbelot aka The Humble One " I need to be a billionaire"

Post by Andrew »

Now I am aware this was cover story in GQ magazine recently but sky sports have put quotes from the article on their site.

http://www.skysports.com/joshua/news/34644/10832457/1

The apparent people's champion and future GOAT says.
"When I first started, the aim was to become a multimillionaire. But now there are ordinary people, grandmas and granddads, who are worth millions just because of property prices. So the new school of thought is that I need to be a billionaire."
"Being a millionaire is good, but you have to set your sights higher. If I'm making £10m from my next fight, my next target has to be making 10 times that. And if I get to £100m-150m, why not go for the billion? I know self-made billionaires. It's hard, but it's possible."
Where has the humbleness gone ?

In all seriousness this is just cringeworthy. If AJ was a flashy blingy loudmouth like Floyd Mayweather or even a pound land version like Broner I wouldn't actually mind him saying things like this. This certainly doesn't suit this nice down to earth man I the people guy he is manufactured to be.

I surely won't be the only one on this forum to jump with joy if Wlad ends the hype by vicious KO.

WAR WLAD. :bag: :bag:

Not that I’ve ever really listened to him and I can’t put my finger on it, but I just literally do not give a f*ck.
Actually I can put my finger on it. I don’t like being told to sit up and be spoon-fed warm diarrohoea.

It could happen he's just signed a sponsorship deal with Humblelot watches like GGG.

In all seriousness good luck to the guy, it's all about the moniez :salut: Saying that it would be hard for any fighter to amass a £billion no matter how popular they are, there isn't enough longevity in a boxers career unlike golf where I believe Woods did it.

He's probably just saying in terms of motivation and keeping himself at the top. He's a millionaire already. It also shows wlad that he's dealing with a very ambitious young lion who is coming to fight and will be letting his hands go. This could end up looking like Haye Audley. Nothing from terrified Wlad, hesitation from Joshua until he realizes Wlad is terrified and then let's his lands go, causing a panic attack for Wlad

This isn't a big deal, nothing wrong with being aspirational. He should stop with the humble line though.

No chance of it happening through boxing. Not even Mayweather got to a billion and they charge between $50-100 for a PPV in the US.

However, if he's smart with investments its a possibility. Mayweather tells everyone he earned over $800mm yet Forbes has his net worth at $340mm?!

Agree with you mate but It's us lot that that are the pudenda. His best win was dillian whyte and the boy is a millionaire already. Hearn has created a PPV monster, with the names on his record he shouldn't even be headlining cards yet let alone be a millionaire of the back of it.

You're right. I don't begrudge him a single penny of what he earns but the hype infuriates me. Arguably he isn't even the best heavyweight in Britain yet but he's being hailed as the future of boxing.

I'd love to see him lose just to see the look on Eddie's face. That's gotta be worth double the PPV price at the very least !

This is old hat. Matthew Ellis was going to be the first billion dollar athlete years ago. AJ is just playing copycat

Less than 10 years on and Ellis was getting smacked into next week by Big Mac and smashing his own noggin into fury's fists in order to have the fight stopped quicker.

Does he not realize that there are grandmas and grandpas who are billionaires as well? If he's not aiming for trillions then he's just not trying is he?

I think he'll be sparked well and truly out and his stock will decrease dramatically before he ever gets the chance of being a billionaire

What does he need billions of pounds for?

To buy anything special or to look cool?
