It sure does. When your countryman fights a Russian "villain", who will you naturally be rooting for?
Villain? Kovalev is more beloved than Ward ever was. If anyone is a villain, it's Ward.
Beloved by who? If you mean majority of hardcore fans, then yes. He is clearly not beloved by judges.

What do you expect from Son of Judges? Par for the course. Also once again Duva displays her complete lack of negotiation skills. If she can't do her job then she needs to stop crying in public about it.

I doint know if you are proposing to import judges from Mars. Because on Earth there is no place left where Russia isnt perceived as a villain by now.

At least they could have one judge from Europe and one from Latin America.

We know for certain that Sergey Kovalev has previously engaged in at least TWENTY TWO bouts on US shores that used a trio of American judges to score each fight. Here’s a list of them:
• Andre Ward
• Nadjib Mohammedi
• Bernard Hopkins
• Blake Caparello
• Cedric Agnew
• Cornelius White
• Gabriel Campillo
• Lionell Thompson
• Darnell Boone (twice)
• Grover Young
• Terrance Woods
• Julius Fogle
• William Johnson
• Dallas Vargas
• Kia Daniels
• Harley Kilfian
• Micky Stackhouse
• Ayodeji Fadeyi
• Michael Birthmark
• Darryl Johnson
• Daniel Chavez

Note: There’s a good chance that purely-American judges scored some of his other bouts, but BoxRec doesn’t have this recorded for a few of his fights.

After reviewing the other fighters from Eastern European/Communist countries within Kathy Duva’s Main Events stable, I discovered that this practice is commonplace and has recently been used for the following boxers: Tomasz Adamek, Vyacheslav Glaszkov, Sullivan Barrera, Vasily Lepikhin, Arif Magomedov, Madiyar Ashkeyev, Enriko Gogokhia and Dmitry Mikhaylenko.

Kathy Duva is talking pure utter búllshít!

End of thread! There is nothing else to discuss!

If it was called experience he should have known it was going to be difficult to stop a guy who's never been, but it didn't stop him from calling the KO in the 1st fight. So according to Kovalev and his lovers he will make the right adjustment but Ward will stay the same come on now get real. We want to be so right all the time we only look at one side of the fight like Kovalev is the only guy in the fight.

What do previous fights have to do with anything? Judges only matter when an outcome is not 100% obvious. Kova didn't care about judges before, but having been screwed by them once, they learned a lesson.

so on this thread your saying that kovalev should have known what to do..

but in another thread you are saying billyjoe vs eubank jnr was so close that its silly to say billy joe even beat eubank jnr .. even going as far to say as eubank jnr is world class? why not in the other thread say "eubank jnr should have known to KO billy joe he said he would loads in the run up"

Kova wasnt going for a KO the first time. He was coasting expecting to get a decision he deserved. Now he knows that he has even less chances to get a decision, as he doesn't have belts anymore.

Yeah and he had no attention of following that up. He wanted to cruse to decision something he rarely do. Make no sense

Of course he tried to finish Ward in the same round, but couldn't. Maybe he was still too cautious. As he said, he over-thought the first fight.

That fight originally followed the scenario of the Hopkins one, so he made a mistake coasting like he did against Hopkins.

So he coasted and it had nothing to do with Ward?
