Jack Catterall top 10?

Post by world ranked »

I'm looking through some rankings and see Catterall #7 in the ring ratings at 140 and #11 on boxrec. Do you think these rankings are accurate and if not where do you rank him among britian's junior welterweights.

Also top 10 in ring magazine which is absolutely mental. Turned down a fight with Tyrone Nurse for the British title last year !!

I do rate Jack though glad he looked good for the first time in a while last weekend and hope he can kick on.

So many organisations , titles and so many rankings with different ways of evaluating boxers It's hard to keep pace .

Catterall rated 2 in the WBO , Robbie Davies Jnr rated 5 in the WBA , Tom Farrell rated 10 in WBA , Ohara Davies at 10 in the WBC . Add to that list at the same weight Josh Taylor who's been getting all the plaudits and rave reviews.

So much talent at one weight one might think and yet Tyrone Nurse , the British Champion ( he must be on a list somewhere? ) has been avoided by two on that list when named as mandatory. Nurse is next defending his British title against Joe Hughes who has stepped up despite losing to Catterrall less than a year ago.

There's so much ducking and diving going on with the protection of boxers and their unbeaten records it completely devalues the British title ( shameful really ) and as such most if not all rankings become pointless exercises.

I like Catterall. Not sure where I'd rank him as the division is packed with talent domestically. There's a lot of fights to be made at 140 hopefully we'll see a few this year.

Top 5 domestically and top 30 internationally.

Find it hard to rank someone higher internationally when their best win is either Stalker or Gethin.

Potentially a good fighter though. The Nurse fight should happen and will tell us a lot.

Looked good against Gethin and appeared that it was one of those nights where it all came together. I think he would have performed well against anybody that night.

Now is the time for the matchmakers to be much more adventurous. Josh Taylor and Catterall are the standouts for me!
