Scott Cardle vs Robbie Barrett
Cardle making what should be the last defence of his British LW title against Barrett on the Burns card this Saturday, you never quite know what Cardle will turn up, he can be elusive without throwing punches or he can end up being dragged into a brawl, either way you know he'll end up cut to ribbons, when he's on song he can be a very tidy boxer, he moves well, is quick and although not a puncher when he's in the mood he can get guys out of there but he's very up and down, I thought he was great against Hooper last time, he fought with intent from the start and got a good stoppage
Ive never seen Barrett but he too is coming off a win over Hooper(points) he has a couple of early losses on his slate but is in form, I would expect Cardle to have a bit too much of everything for him but you just never know with Scotty, I'll go Cardle mid to late KO

Re: Scott Cardle vs Robbie Barrett
Callum Johnson was scheduled to defend his Commonwealth LHW title against Schiller Hyppolite on this card as well but looks like its off as I cant see on the listings, its a shame I was hoping Johnson's career would crack on after picking up the Commonwealth
Re: Scott Cardle vs Robbie Barrett
I was looking forward to that one. Disappointing.handsofstone wrote:Callum Johnson was scheduled to defend his Commonwealth LHW title against Schiller Hyppolite on this card as well but looks like its off as I cant see on the listings, its a shame I was hoping Johnson's career would crack on after picking up the Commonwealth
Re: Scott Cardle vs Robbie Barrett
Cardle vs Barrett another pretty average title fight, Cardle an average champion.
Re: Scott Cardle vs Robbie Barrett
I know little of either fighter, however Barrett has an incredibly ill-advised torso tattoo...
Re: Scott Cardle vs Robbie Barrett
Lost to Dodd twice turned down Luke Campbell and probably turned down a third fight with Dodd as Hearn has always said he wants to do it again. I would be very surprised if Hearn did not offer them that fight for next weekend ( Dodd is a very good ticket seller )
Wanted an easy defence to win the belt outright. I actually didn't mind Cardle until that Dodd rematch.
He was coming along nicely and the craig Evans win was a solid performance. He did insist on having a rematch with Dodd immediately after the first fight. Yet his comments after that rematch were nothing short of disgraceful labelling Dodd a "Small hall fighter" as an insult.
I blame the board though Luke Campbell should have been made mandatory and not Hooper.
No idea if Barrett is any good. Hope he shows no respect and gives is a good go

Re: Scott Cardle vs Robbie Barrett
IMO The British Board should have ordered the Dodd 3 fight and Hearn ( as he said he would ) should also have made that happen immediately after the last unsatisfactory draw .
In a division that's been loaded with talent Cardle and his team couldn't have hand picked a better route to winning the title outright .
His behaviour pre and post that last Dodd fight was a disgrace. Gallagher and Cardle celebrated the dodgy draw as if they had unified the division at world.

Cardle would definitely be one of the lesser champions to earn the Lonsdale outright. But there have been others before him to be fair.Fortynineandout wrote: In a division that's been loaded with talent Cardle and his team couldn't have hand picked a better route to winning the title outright .

Re: Scott Cardle vs Robbie Barrett
Well done Robbie Barrett
He was there to be an easy opponent and I absolutely love how that backfired spectacularly on Cardle.
I'll be honest I turned if off when Barrett got floored in round 2 and went back about round 9 after my mate told me it was close.
When fat Smigga smith and Crolla had it level I knew that Barrett was ahead.
As much stick as I have given Cardle (and rightfully so) what I will add ( as mentioned in the RBR) at least he defended the British title rather than picking up the toy alphabet belts fighting foreigners and getting bought rankings.
The British title needs to be seen as important by sky. When a fighter like Barrett and Dodd fight for that belt they fight out of their skin where as some argie for a WBC toy belt won't.
I'm still a bit gutted for Sean Dodd though. He beat Cardle twice better than Barett did ....but anyway hats off to Robbie Barrett and Steffy Bull too. I knew Steffy puts on his own shows in Donny and puts a lot in so he deserves it too.

To be fair, Crolla always scores the fight fairly. One suspects that may not make him the ideal pundit for SKY in years to come.

Re: Scott Cardle vs Robbie Barrett
Cardle takes a lot of flak on here, a lot of people think he's arrogant and the Matchroom/Tesco Joe links will always attract bad publicity but TBH I quite like him, I accepted a while ago now that despite his amateur credentials, he's not the most skilled boxer and doesn't have a particularly high boxing IQ, I do like his footwork though and he can look sharp at times but I cant help thinking if he didn't have the amateur background or the Joe G/Sky links he might get a bit more kudos for his style and heart, for whatever reason his team have kept him away from punchers but he's beat a few tricky opponents, he's no divine right to beat anyone like Evans, Dodd, Barrett etc
Its a pity his skin is like a wet paper towel because that must hinder his gameplan throughout, have a look at his record on Boxrec and how often he gets cut. its ridiculous

Re: Scott Cardle vs Robbie Barrett
Fwiw, for me Cardle has had a charmed life and had already used his 'get out of jail' card in both the Dodd fights.
The way he a Gallagher reacted to the last dodgy draw at the echo arena tells its own story.
A third fight really should have been ordered .
It was only a matter of time before his luck ran out and last night that's exactly what happened. Well done to Robbie Barrett and his team .

I also had Cardle 114-112.
His luck ran out though as I thought he was fortunate to get the Masher decisions.
Cardle gets hit by silly shots with his hands down. Such basic errors and easy to fix. Hope he works his way back.
Fantastic fight Saturday.

I've got a good number of tattoos, black and white realistic ones. It's not hard to find a tattooist that can do a proper job. Whoever has done that needs to be charged with a criminal offence.
