I mean this look like a blatant con act. I'd appreciate if Canelo would've challenge JCCjr or Ramirez at 168 lbs but this is a spit on the face for boxing. At least Golovkin challenged himself against a top mw in Jacobs and that's a good accomplishment.
People should stop cheering for this fight and demand Canelo to take real challenges.

There's a history of yapping between JCCJR and Canelo so there's bad blood. There's also a lot of money on the line for them to face each other. I'm a GGG fan and I'm not mad about this fight being made. If Canelo wins then we'll get the fight we want to see in September. But in the meantime, both guys will have this tuneup round to set the stage.
Canelo SHOULD win easily and I believe by a late stoppage from ref but what if he struggles with the bigger Canelo? Those two goons just throwing bombs at each other in an all out Mexican slugfest? Yes, Please.
PS-GGG looking as bad as he did against Jacobs hurt the Canelo fight a little bit. I think that Canelo would have beaten GGG the other night if he were in Jacobs place. I didn't like how slow GGG looked. That's not going to work against Canelo.

Canelo vs JCCJr is all business. I agree that in a close-ish fight Canelo gets the decision over GGG.caldo2025 wrote:There's a history of yapping between JCCJR and Canelo so there's bad blood. The purpose of this fight is to get paid. Alvarez is only 26 and he's already fought Mayweather, Lara, Cotto, Trout, Kirkland, Angulo, etc.. He doesn't need to be taking a legacy-defining fight every night out. Every now and then, he takes fights that are only about money / fame, like Shane Mosley, Amir Khan, and JCC Jr..

I don't think the age thing is fair.Lackeos wrote:The purpose of this fight is to get paid. Alvarez is only 26 and he's already fought Mayweather, Lara, Cotto, Trout, Kirkland, Angulo, etc.. He was given a title. He was given the spotlight.
He has had 50 fights, and has been a champion for the better part of 6 years.
Also, he is making the most money.
Every fight doesn't have to be legacy defining, but that's what Khan and Smith were for.
Also, the 3 names should be Floyd, Lara and Trout.
Cotto, Angulo and Kirkland are names that many (including me) hoped would beat Canelo,
but they were either done or at a significant disadvantage when they fought Canelo.
Listing those three as challenges are for people who read Boxrec records and don't know boxing.
You're better than that.

Yup, Floyd , Lara and Trout were Canelo's most legit fights. Cotto was O.K-ish but indeed he was past of his prime. Kirkland , Angulo and Smith were legit cherrypicks.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:I don't think the age thing is fair.Lackeos wrote:The purpose of this fight is to get paid. Chavez Jr. was looking sick skinny a while back. Last I saw him on Twitter he was huge and shredded. I haven't seen him lately, though, but if he comes in skinny, I'm not sure if it's a good sign. Canelo is looking absolutely gigantic from what I'm seeing of his camp videos. His calves are looking like melons, and he's looking like a damn rock.

No, Cotto was actually a very good win. Lots had it almost at 50-50. I'd say Cotto is Canelo's best win.apollo creed wrote:Yup, Floyd , Lara and Trout were Canelo's most legit fights. Angulo wasn't really a cherrypick. They were both coming off losses. You can call Kirland a bit of a cherrypick.

After the loss to Manny he moved up to 154 to start the 2nd part of his career.
W - Yuri Foreman (Not really that good)
W - Ricardo Mayorga (This is Mayorga 2.5 years after the first Mosely loss
W - Antonio Margarito (Big win over a cyclops)
L - Floyd Mayweather (Stormed out after barely winning 3 rounds
L - Austin Trout (Got beat by a guy who is very good, but a little under the top tier at 154)
W - Delvin Rodriguez (
W - Sergio Martinez (Beat a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest)
W - Daniel Geale (Bragged about having the power to drain Geale)
L - Saul Alvarez (Looked scared and under-powered ... stormed out after barely trying
6-3 since 2010. You can judge him differently, but that's how I see it.

That old one-legged-shot-to-$hit vesion of Martinez was a well timed cherrypick and of course a nice scalp for Cotto.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Let's talk about Cotto ...Mexi-Box wrote:No, Cotto was actually a very good win. Lots had it almost at 50-50. I'd say Cotto is Canelo's best win.

Can't wait to see a 37-38 y/o GGG vs a 28-29 y/o Canelo in a very fairly boxing match.

A better question:
If a washed up mummy in JCCJr beats Canelo, then what?
This is the scenario I am hoping for.

I see Sergio Martinez fans are still mad their diva hero got his shit pushed in by tiny Cotto.apollo creed wrote:That old one-legged-shot-to-$hit vesion of Martinez was a well timed cherrypick and of course a nice scalp for Cotto.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Let's talk about Cotto ...Mexi-Box wrote:No, Cotto was actually a very good win. FYI, Cotto would've dismantled Martinez at any stage.

Then we will definitely see GGG vs Chavez Jr in September at 168. TBH I think Chavez Jr is more willing to fight GGG than Canelo. But Canelo pretty much 'handicapped' Jr with this c/w of 164.5 lbs.Impractical Poster wrote:A better question:

If Jr beats Canelo somehow, which I doubt, it may end up setting up rematch, then a trilogy, so it would put off the GGG fight even more. Not sure if there is any rematch clause though. It is a money fight like some have said, and Canelo made the weight low enough to make sure he has an advantage.
It would be funny as hell if Canelo lost to Jr though.

Canelo vs Chavez Jr at 168 would've been a fair match. Canelo pretty much is draining the life out of Jr with this stupid c/w.
