In reality , without bullshit , i've lived an worked all over the world , visited a lot of countrys , and the one thing the John Furys of this world have , is love and respect from weaker characters , I've been in his conpany , i know him and he's a good bloke ect ect ect ,,,
until he feels disrespected , then you can guarantee its not Lennox Lewis sat quiet in the corner , or Mike Tyson in the other corner that will feel his wrath .. Its always going to be the guy he KNEW HE COULD BEAT .. tHE GUYS A FUCKIN BIG BULLY , and to be honest i think the second he lays a hand on anyone else , his next 10 year stretch should mean 10 YEARS

I agree with this Mr Coneye. I know guys in security that give it to younger spotty teenagers or elderly blokes, harmless people. This one guard is very aloof and short with smaller customers. Very rude. The moment a "geezer" bowls in (you know the guys that look like they can proper have it ) he's all handshakes; smiles and respect - red carpet treatment with 'em. The C unts!! He thinks he's being street wise. If he treated everyone the same as the plastic gangsters I'd think he's the nicest bloke. You should treat the nice people with respect, not the troublemakers; sucking up to them just because they're a bit of a "Boy." That's just being a bully in my mince pies. Every time I talk to people in my job, I make myself aware, would I be talking to this person the same way if he was bigger and stronger then me. It's easy to act like the tough guy when you're picking on weaker men.

I did find Fury Snr amusing and he is a decent 'storyteller' but I don't think he's done Tyson too many favours over the years.

Well so are Tyson and Hughie Fury, Hosea Burton, and Andy Lee, though Nathan is a direct descendant of Bartley's as Bartley is his Grand UncleStevieb8006 wrote:He is indeedrm1 wrote:A Nathan Gorman has just turned pro as a heavyweight is he related to Bartley ? Re: john fury
Ha Ha ain't that the truth !!! Did you know that after finding out he had been lied to by an Asian mystic about his 'Gypsy heritage' and that he had ancestral links to the 'Robbins' family (He famously requested that boxrec change his name to the John Fury inspired 'Gypsy Henry Bobbins Dethingbow') He has now conveniently discovered through ancestry.com that the Gypsy family he actually has genetic ties to are the 'Loveridges' ! I can see him now in my minds eye, like an over excited boy on Christmas Eve full of glee, learning how to actually fight (well miles better than his most recent 'form' in his 47 second 'showing' against J'Leon Love! ) they will take him hare coursing and Cockerell fighting, teach him how to catch trout with just his bare hands, give him the closet space in the family trailer....Kind of reminds me of the last time Rufus used spiritual means in some Gypsy related endeavour, where he hired the expertise of a medium to make contact with the ten year departed soul of Bartley Gorman, where in his own words he asked a spirit that was supposedly Gorman's "Bartley, I honour and respect your fighting spirit, you were the greatest of all times ! You were the king of the Gypsies ! Bit you are dead now, you don't need the title and the recognition it brings, but I do ! Oh Bartley, let me inherit the title of King of the Gypsies from you so that I might be made great too ! Let me also inherit the legendary fighting spirit you used to ko Henry Francis ! And if you do grant me my wish Bartley I will forever keep your name alive, and tell and re tell your story until everyone gets bored of hearing it"Stevieb8006 wrote:i miss henrys mark twainesque romanticisms on travelling life
IT seems Bartley's 'spirit' didn't make good on his faustian deal with Rufus, Rufus still won't shut his pipe about Gorman but is still waiting to be the king of the Gypsies

It's this thread around page 6 the original post is gone but there are responses after that I think clarify, basically the poster has a history of malicious and ummm mischievous posting so even if he said something true there would have to be a smidgeon of doubt. Conversely he could probably have people believing outright whoppers if they weren't carefulAdrianmcclin wrote:Can you please direct me to said thread?Counter-puncher wrote:I think it was confirmed the Partridge story was bollocks but that it was likely there were elements of truth in the rest

I garuntee you, John Fury talked the same way even then. Win, lose, or draw, John Fury wasn't afraid. And I actually give him some damn big props for Akinwande. Why? Look at his record. Fury was only 8-2-1 as a pro when he fought Akinwande. The best win of his career was against a man who was 17-2-1 (Cesare Di Benedetto), the rest were pro debuters or bottom feeders. Akinwande was 11-0-0 (7) and was much taller, rangier. Best of my knowledge Fury hadn't fought in eight months prior to Akinwande. John Fury is 6'3", Akinwande was 6'7". All in all, him getting knocked out by a man who would (seven fights later) be the EBU champion, and later WBO champion isn't such a bad thing.
From my own understanding, John Fury was a part-time fighter. He wasn't the work horse that his son is. He was a big, strong, tough man who had decent skills. But by his own admission Fury will say he was just a journeyman. Most of the time John Fury was wheeling and dealing in horses or cars or doing business elsewhere. I will say, though, I have tried in vain to try and find so much as a picture of this fight let alone film. Or as a matter of fact, I have only seen three pictures of him either training or fighting. Two were for the same fight, and I think that was Neil Malpass for the BBC Central Area title. The other was him with Bartley Gorman hitting a punching bag in preperation for the Akinwande fight..... the interesting part of the picture is.... the little boy with long blonde hair watching the two men work out was Tyson Fury :P
Malpass was well past his best when they fought but he was an experienced pro, could box a bit and had a good right hand. He outpointed Fury pretty clearly. Fogarty was an 18-year-old débutant and nearly stopped him.
Funnily enough, Peter Fury's only pro fight was against another Donny fighter, David Jules (aka Dave John). Jules stopped Peter as well. Basically, Rufus, none of them were particularly talented boxers. Sorry to burst your bubble mate, I've got no axe to grind - it's just the truth.
None of which should detract from Tyson Fury's achievements. He's a world champion and fair play to him, that's great stuff. But, you know, let's not run away with the idea that all the Furys have been great boxers. Because they haven't.
ps. Just watched Hughie Fury v Larry O on TV. Disgraceful performance by Olibamwu, in my opinion. He simply didn't try at all.

Partridge has been very quiet recently.
Re: john fury
Funny but, inbetween addresses, I was briefly a member of a gym in Bethnal Green earlier on in the year and one of the blokes doing PT work in there looked really familiar and it took me ages to figure out it was Larry O (he actually had his name on his T shirt). I was amazed by how small he was (he's not little but he's certainly not one of these modern heavyweight monoliths) and also that he was PTing in that particular gym, which was pretty rough and ready. It made me think he'd not made a lot of money out of boxing before being banned.Matt the Master wrote:Shouldn't his name be spelled 'OliBUMwu' ???mercman wrote:Also, Rufus, there was another Fury on the same bill at that Malpass fight.
