Kovalev the Villain?

Post by verlichte »

"Russian boxing villain drops taunt video filled with N-bombs"

Kovalev, who lost his light heavyweight titles to Ward via a controversial decision in their unification bout in November, released a new promo for the bout on his social media account that is rife with racist and anti-gay slurs.

Kovalev deleted a tweet containing the nasty video, which was posted last Friday, shortly after noon on Tuesday, but it is preserved on YouTube (warning: explicit content).

In other news, Claressa Shields has had it with Sergey Kovalev’s chauvinistic comments:

Thoughts?

Video is very accurate. I've heard Wards nails stop growing from all that unreleased anger. Only outlet he had so far is a bit of winking with that wanker radio raheem.

And yet she's said her favourite fighter is someone who actually beats women ....

The slap like a girl comment was nothing.

I've heard no good posts are found there. It's a sort of dead zone.

The videos funny, and inoffensive.

People get offended pretty easy if they are by this video

... and I strongly doubt that Kovalev is capable of creating videos like that, especially in English.

They're misrepresenting Kovalev to create a super villain to build up the fight. Ward can't draw flies so they need an angle. They're trying to play up the US-Russian rivalry and suggesting "Putin needs to get in touch with Trump, who is a Boxing fan as we know. The 2 leaders need to get a bet down." The fight isn't that big. Putin and Trump aren't going to bet on this fight. Putin may have little interest in Boxing, but he would be smart enough to know that the playing field is badly tilted towards Ward. And he's smart enough not to contribute to nationalistic propaganda and hatred -- but I don't know about Trump. He's pretty damned stupid ... and engages in a lot of racist and nationalistic remarks.

This isn't about Russia or nationalism.. This is about a guy who got robbed of a decision who's getting another chance -- with the deck stacked against him again.. I think it's going to be another robbery going to Ward by 2-points if he can keep his ass off the deck.. However Kovalev has a chance.. He's already proven he's a better boxer and puncher by out-scoring Ward numerically and scoring the only knockdown.. He needs to carry that knowledge into the fight and not get caught up in the hate rhetoric or what the judges are trying to do..

If he gets robbed again -- maybe Eastern Europe needs to create their own version of World Titles like the West has created several versions.. This is what Boxing has become.

Ward is so boring, all he does is win. Kovalev will have two losses after they fight again.

If he does, more power to him. I've said before that I hope for a clear winner. The reason I pick Ward is the way the fight went the first time. Reminds me a little of Mayweather's few rematches - he is smart enough to have him figured out and will pick up where he left off. Kovalev better lay off the vodka and stay up in big bear for more than two weeks this time. His stamina may be the determining factor.

Don't know about vodka. His body can freak out without it. :OhYes:

I don't think anyone will be sipping vodka before this fight... There's some serious hate going on.. They're going for keeps like Joey Giardello vs Gene Fullmer who really hated each other big time. Giardello called Fullmer every name in the book. I figured Giardello won the fight, was fouled about a 1000 times, and wound up with a draw -- which meant Fullmer got to keep the title.. JG got screwed by the referee and the judges, and got no rematch.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6yMfMVEkeU
