I saw ezzard just days after their first fight. He was hit in the Adam's apple in that one .......and his neck swelled up so much he could hardly talk, and had trouble breathing after during the fight after that. Never commented on it...said it would sound like an excuse, when it wasn't because he said it was a legal punch. There are those of us who think he would have won if it hadn't happened , though.
Don't know offhand the weight of the gloves then, but it was around this time that gloves could be squeezed so there was less padding around the knuckles and when they got wet got very hard. Nothing tricky... both fighters used the same kind. However, there were differences in gloves and some of the biggest pre-fight conditions were argued about as to which kind would be used.
