Shumenov had a scratch in the retina of his eye during sparring. He required emergency surgery. Photo of his eye on Shumenov's Instagram account.

Shumenov knows that he would get destroyed by Dorticos. He will try to find an easier way to a belt like suing WBA.

He had an injury in 2015 prior to a bout with Wlodarczyk too
