Joseph Parker vs Hughie Fury in NZ - confirmed for May 6th
Re: Joseph Parker vs Hughie Fury in NZ - confirmed for May 6th
Parker making $1.8M. Hughie $1.2M.
Re: Joseph Parker vs Hughie Fury in NZ - confirmed for May 6th
How is Fury the mandatory? He has fought once in the last year or so...
For what it's worth I see this as Parker 60/40, Hughie has a chance and could well be a champion one day but given his recent inactivity this might not be his time.

So Hughie Fury faces a UK Anti-Doping Authority hearing for alleged use of the prohibited steroid nandrolone, in mid April, and is due to fight Jospeph Parker on May 6th.Naandrew wrote:You lot may want a read of this

Meanwhile his father, who served 9 years for drug related offences, is lobbying the NZ government to be allowed into the country.

Sounds like DUCO half expect the fight to fall over and who could blame them under the circumstances.

Well it does seem to be picked up by NZ media after the mail reported it.
parkers fans won't have known about this where as any British boxing fan have been aware for a while and most have generally forgotten as it has barely been reported in the media since.
Glad NZ press are mentioning it it's not fair to advertise a fight which there is a good chance of it not happening. Then again it's not officially been announced yet.

His Dad won't be allowed in NZ and so he should'nt , laws the law and there for everyone , fight will not happen , if it does happen in the UK . Parkers team are silly , considering the blatant bad home town discisions that have been coming out of the UK recently ,, Britain seems to have well overtook Germany in this regard ... Parker would be throwing his belt away .
Parker does'nt need to fight and beat Hughie to get a crack at AJ , That will all depend on wether or not Hearn thinks he's a big enough threat , Parkers name is already up there with the elite , in fact a bad show against Hughie would dampen his chances . What Parker needs to get that fight is a few more KO'S and public opinion will make it happen .

I remember reading what I considered at the time just forum speculation about possible Hughie Fury drug use. But I don't remember it being backed by any references at the time.Naandrew wrote:Well it does seem to be picked up by NZ media after the mail reported it.

Somehow news of Hughie's possible transgressions have been suppressed in this part of the world. At least until recently.

Re: Joseph Parker vs Hughie Fury in NZ - confirmed for May 6th
Hughie Fury is Parker's mandatory and Parker had no real choice other than to fight him. Parker twiddled his thumbs long enough while Hearn stuffed him around late last year to know he has to play his own hand and not just sit back and wait on Hearn and Joshua.coneye wrote:His Dad won't be allowed in NZ and so he should'nt , laws the law and there for everyone , fight will not happen , if it does happen in the UK . DUCO have done the right thing by gaining Parker the home advantage against Fury, and if Fury can't, or won't come, stiff, Parker moves on to another opponent. Probably someone he can knock over easily and impressively.

Just what i'm saying he does'nt need to fight Fury ,, Let them pull out , don't go to the UK , fight a few more in NZ get the ko's up and Hearn will have to put AJ in with either Wilder or Parker , there won't really be anyone else big enough for PPVLike a Boss wrote:Hughie Fury is Parker's mandatory and Parker had no real choice other than to fight him. The mirror reported it in June last year that they both tested positive for nandrolone in 2015 UKAD only charged them a couple of days before the article.Like a Boss wrote:I remember reading what I considered at the time just forum speculation about possible Hughie Fury drug use. Only one day after UKAD charged them Fury pulled out of the Wlad rematch with an ankle injury.
Very little has been reported since only rumours of hearings taking place.

Joseph Parker: I'll fight Tony Bellew in London
Joseph Parker has indicated his willingness to fight Tony Bellew on Bellew's home turf after the Englishman beat his countryman David Haye in a huge upset in London today.
Parker, who had earlier sent Haye a message of good luck on Twitter, sent a message to Bellew which read: "All goes well May 6, I'll fight you next at the 02, no problem."
Parker's promoters have said they will announce the details of the 25-year-old's first mandatory defence of his WBO world title against Hughie Fury this week. It is likely to be held at Vector Arena on May 6.

Another one of Kevin Barry's fighters, Umar Salamov 22-0, will appear on the Parker-Fury undercard.
Salamov will face Emil Markic 24-1 for the vacant WBO international light heavyweight title Andre Ward vacated when he defeated Sergey Kovalev.

Re: Joseph Parker vs Hughie Fury in NZ - confirmed for May 6th
Joseph Parker's promoters have confirmed Parker's world title defence against Hughie Fury is off.
Duco's David Higgins said the Fury camp have claimed that Hughie has picked up an injury in training and that they have given Parker the go-ahead to fight another opponent, a state of affairs that his left Higgins "shocked".
"Do I think Hughie is injured? No, I don't. I think it's make-believe," Higgins told the Herald.
Higgins, who described the Fury camp as "clowns", said his aim was that Parker, who arrived in Auckland from his Las Vegas base yesterday, would still fight on the scheduled date of May 6 at Auckland's Spark Arena, but that it would take some time to organise another opponent.
"We want to do the right thing by the paying public," Higgins said. "We need to show them respect and we will. We as a company need to re-group and make different arrangements and we hope to do that by tomorrow morning."
Fury's withdrawal from a fight worth $1.7million to him should have repercussions for his career. He is undefeated at the age of 22, but few reputable fight promoters are likely to want to enter into negotiations with him or his camp.
WBO president Paco Valcarcel posted on twitter earlier today that the fight was in doubt and that he knew who was at fault.

Cant blame Duco for being filthy on Fury and his handlers. Claims of injury, frankly reek of bs.
Lucas Browne has put his hand up as a replacement. Could well save the card, dont think they'll get a better offer on a weeks notice.

Can Browne even fight after testing positive for PED's?

As for Lucas Browne. Firstly I'm not even sure if he is allowed to fight yet. Secondly, he wouldn't have a rating with any of the organisations would he?

Team Fury now all apologetic about Hughie's withdrawal and claiming he has a back injury.
I wondered what their excuse would be, and like Duco, have doubts about how credible it is.
Back injuries are notoriously hard to get a proper diagnosis on and in many cases a doctor can't tell if a back injury complaint is genuine or not.

Re: Joseph Parker vs Hughie Fury in NZ - confirmed for May 6th
David Higgins from Parker's management company Duco is fuming Fury has pulled out of the fight and doubts the injury is legitimate.
"Since day one they didn't want to come to New Zealand.
"They fought the original negotiations then had to go to a purse bid and we won it and then elected to have the fight in New Zealand and then there were more fights over the contract negotiations. I just don't think they wanted to come here."
"There's probably a one in a billion chance there is an injury," Higgins said.

I have no idea what came of Brownes second positive test tbh. I remember him demanding they look into the supplements he was using, not heard anything since. And nah no ranking either.Like a Boss wrote:It really looks like Fury has dogged this fight.Tinnie wrote:Cant blame Duco for being filthy on Fury and his handlers. The WBO want someone ranked in their top 15 and some of those guys are putting their hands up. Beazeale for instance.Tinnie wrote:I have no idea what came of Brownes second positive test tbh.
