New opponent needed for Parker on short notice. Who?
With the Furys deciding to stay home Duco need to find another opponent for Joseph Parker and on short notice.
A list of names are already being bandied about. Browne, Breazeale.....
I believe Andriy Rudenko was scheduled to fight during the past 24 hours and pulled out. He is inside the WBO top 15 too. In fact he is inside their top 10.
Hmm? Wouldn't be a bad fit?

No way they are fighting Browne. He isnt too 15 WBO and still has a ban over his PED case. From the top 15 list I could see Miller or Breazale stepping up on short notice
Re: New opponent needed for Parker on short notice. Who?
At this point Parker could probably get stripped for fighting Browne.
All four major sanctioning bodies have removed him from their rankings.

Only listed Browne as a name that people are mentioning. Can't see that happening either.nmhz wrote:No way they are fighting Browne. He isnt too 15 WBO and still has a ban over his PED case. From the top 15 list I could see Miller or Breazale stepping up on short notice

David Higgins from Duco has stated he is "pretty confident" of finding a replacement who met the WBO standard - it must be a top 15 fighter "with credibility". He said there were 3 or 4 candidates, but he would not name them.
"You cut a deal quick, get him on a flight today potentially," he said.
"Otherwise we can cancel the event and take our time, line up something offshore for July/August".

"with credibility"?
They are in this short notice situation because an opponent "with credibility" bitched out.
Besides that no less than half of the WBO top 15 have no credibility to begin with.

They are basically saying they still want to give the paying customers their money's worth and would rather postpone the event than plow ahead with a stinker if it comes to that.
Sounds like smart business to me given the situation
Duco are already taking a hit regardless. Even if a suitable replacement is found, i can see them losing a hefty chuck of their ppvs.

Very likely. The Furys have screwed them royally here and it won't go unnoticed by other promoters.Tinnie wrote:

Would love to see Kyotaro Fujimoto step up and give it a shot!

With May 6th so close, just as important as they quality of the opponent is his reliability to turn up.nmhz wrote:He already pulled out of a Parker fight once, I wouldnt counpt on a second shot, especially now JP has a beltCutman Scabbers wrote:Would love to see Kyotaro Fujimoto step up and give it a shot!

Cojanu is awful....probably the worst of the ranked fighters by a good margin.
Couldnt even get through two rounds with Dominic Dennis.

Duco were limited to someone who was WBO top 15, currently in training and able to virtually jump straight on a plane.
Plus Parker had spent his entire camp training for a tall opponent.
It didn't leave them many options. In fact only one, perhaps two.

Breazeale priced himself out according to an article i was reading last night.
Had to laugh at Wilder jumping on the bandwagon calling out Parker, knowing full well neither party would let it happen.

Joseph Parker world class ? I do'nt think so.
Challengers will be falling over themselves to get a shot.
Better keep him well away from Ortiz, Joshua, Hughie Fury, Wilder etc.
I imagine Klitschko would put his retirement on hold to get his chance.

One of the commentators said; "They are fighting like they know each other"
I guess he was unaware Cojanu is his former sparring partner, because of his height......nor were 90% hyped up spectators.![[icon_wink.gif] ;-)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)

The main event was a turgid, tedious affair, the less said about it the better.
By a long way, the best fight on the card was the George Kambosos versus Qamil Balla bout, and frankly it was better than all the others put together.
Although George won on all the cards, it was not one sided and both blokes showed great heart, ability and stamina to finish the 10 rounds. George by 98-93 on my card.
