So what's happening here?
We had, what at the time seemed to be very good news for Witter in that Golden Boy Promotions where going to co-promote 3 US fights - At the same time he was made a mandatory challenger to then champion Arturo Gatti.
Over 12 months on and we have seen Witter struggle to a tight points win in a EBU defence, and then face a domestic challenge from Lynes where he looked even worse.
Now he's scheduled to rematch Lauri and to add add insult to injury, it's in Italy, I suppose he will get a decent payday. - What next though? An Oscar Hall rematch?
It could be argued that Witter has gone backwards since he left the SN camp (sounds familiar)
Anyway, what's with the US deal?
Witter & Golden Boy promotions?
Good question, same can also be applied to Carl Froch - promised these big things, but so far his best opponent since signing has been Matthew Barney.
Although there are 3 parties here and one can never tell who is to blame. Is it Hennessey/ Golden Boy or the fighter themselve (perhaps GB has fights in the pipeline stateside and the fighters have said no).
Yes, Witter career has gone backwards since leaving Sports Network. Frank did get him two title shots, one he lost, the other he injured himself and never fought.
I have absolute no doubt that had Hatton and Witter bothed stayed with Frank they would have fought in October (instead of Maussa).

They're not going to though, are they? I don't think the WBC have ever been particularly keen to have Junior as champ. I mean, Witter is meant to get his shot at Mayweather by June. By then, chances are he's going to be IBF welter champion, so they'll have to look at some sort of fight for the vacant title, which they seem to be in no hurry to do. They'll keep that belt for Castillo when he moves up, mark my words.hitman_hatton1 wrote:apart from froch going over and fighting porras, nothing much has happened with the goldenboy tie up.
witter deserves a wbc title shot and the wbc should stand up and order mayweather either shits of gets off.

I know people have said that over in the USA no one would be interested in a PBF and Witter fight and that it wouldn't be a big attraction, so why not let them fight over in the UK, that fight over here would be massive .
Mind you that scenario would have only applied about a year back, i doubt Witter will ever share the same ring with PBF now he has the Welters on his mind.

Hopefully Mayweather will give up the WBC or get made Emiratus when he fights/beats Judah. I have a feelings Judahs going to KO the pretty boy though - if he does there could be a re-match.
WBC hasn't had any sanctioning fees since PBF beat Gatti so maybe they'll be keen to give the belt to someone who'll actually fight with it. I think Juniorwill be able to sell tickets once he has a WBC belt.

The Golden Boy tie-up was a smokescreen. GB are only interested in #1 contenders and Witter may be that but has hardly excelled of late. It made good PR for fledgling outfit Hennessy Sports but was never going to come to anything.
Hennesy has done nothing for Witter and sold him down the river with a trip to Italy when he could, if he was in business with ODLH have easily beat the Italian promoters to bring the fight to the UK.
Can't help but think if Witter had stayed with Warren he may be in avery strong position now to force Hatton's hand.
I don't think Hatton has ever wanted Witter and if he did it would be the easiest fight for him to make NOW. He's not though is he, say's it all. Warren took the flak for Ricky not wanting Witter IMO.
