Another mostly underdog filled weekend with mixed results. A few of these dogs made their fights very close and with hindsight therefore justify the wagers to my way of thinking. For example, Marcelino Lopez knocked his opponent down in the eighth round in a competitive fight, but lost too many early rounds coming off a long layoff to get the decision. John Ryder made it a very close fight with Rocky Fielding to where the split decision could have went either way. Longshot Joe Hughes managed to make it close enough to force a draw vs Tyrone Nurse, but I lost anyway with the three way line in this case instead of a push like I'd get at the fiat American books. Even longshot Miguel Marriaga engaged in a furious FOTY candidate with Oscar Valdez that I thought was scored way wider than fair, even though I was sure he lost a UD. At least big plays on Khurtsidze and Abraham paid off. As a mostly underdog player I don't at all mind taking and losing big positions on Berto, with the huge upside that was there, although I might have hedged with Porter 7-12 stoppage to be safe and perhaps break even. Only a small 1.43 unit loss on the balance. Looking forward to next weekend and am awfully tempted by Wlad as a more than 2-1 underdog.

Joshua points.
Klitchko lost at his 40 by points to Fury.
And he will loose at his 41 by points to Joshua. It's gonna be like Ali the greatest lost by points at 40 to Larry Holmes, at 41 to Berbick.
Klitchko is a boring box master. He is going to be quite accurate and will be running around, doing one punch and one step back, in any danger- clinching! Not like breazeal, slow and bulky, who tried always to go forward. And I don't think aj gonna run for the ko, like Porter vs Berto.
So I think points for aj is going to be suitable variant for both.

Pissed off I talked myself out of the Khurtsidze win but it was the only bet I had so could have been a lot worse. Lots of thinking to do about Klit v AJ. Will post picks nearer the time.

Just had a bet on Klitscko stoppage anytime at 5.2 on betfair. Joshua may well walk through him but that price looks too big for me. Might have a nibble on Klitscko round 7-12 at 9/1 with PP as well.

Has anybody seen Viorel Simion? I find the 2/1 on a Quigg KO surprisingly high considering Quigg often KOed guys quicker then other good boxers. Or did the Romanian look unstoppable against Selby?

He was coming on really strong late in the fight against Selby but that was 5 years or so ago. I don't think Quiggs power will translate over to featherweight, I think a points win most is likely and the fight might be competitive and fun. If there is a stoppage it will be late like 7-12 or 10-12 imo.

about pulev /johnson.
Logic dictates me that Pulev will win by u/desicion.
He has 50 % ko in all his wins which is poor result for his weight! Plus he had very difficult rounds with chisora.
Fury even did not ko'ed johnson (fury had 25 wins and 18 ko = 72% kos) and vitaliy klitschko had 45 wins with 41 ko, 91% kos, so johnson got into 4 lucky guys in Klitschko's career who didnt get a ko. However, logic in boxing is not an instrument, but i m going with points on pulev

About Quigg / Simion
Quigg ko. in 7-9 rounds. its going to be like berschelt/vargas who knows. Simion looses too much meeting punches. Selby had another tactics - he was running around and taking points, but quigg is gonna run for ko.

I was previously pulling for the Pulev KO, expecting Johnson not to be physically all there, but he's turned out good for his age. Pulev points in an acca.

I've taken that. 119.1 / 118-1 on betfair. (Although they take 5% of winnings that's still the best price by far.... next is paddy at 100-1)

I would normally consider putting something on Wlad as a underdog, but I'm all over AJ by stoppage this time. A lot of the betting sharps on forums and podcasters are predicting Klitschko, or at least think the value is on Klitschko, so hopefully I don't regret it. I'll type my wagers with stakes properly when I get a chance later but these are my main plays plus a few longshot props:

Joshua ML at -198
Joshua wins by KO/TKO/DQ or UD -168
Joshua wins by TKO (not KO or DQ) +230
Joshua wins by TKO (not KO or DQ) +255
Joshua wins in rounds 5-8 +317
Wladimir Klitschko to be knocked down -162
Under 8½ rounds +100

I'm tempted as well, maybe late...

The nearer the Klitschko fight comes, the more unsure I become..
Initially I favoured Joshua, and I have build up some accumulators with him as the last leg.
But there are a lot of intangibles...

Usually in fights like this, I go for longshots...maybe late rounds or draw...

I'm also wondering whether Campbell might score a ko... Sometimes he Looks great and then not so...
