Schumacher had nowt to do with the mum incident. You are correct it was McCarthy who took thr stilletto.
I still cant find why Schumacher is supposed to be in prison though. Strange no newspaper articles.
I am sure he beat a comedian to death at a club, remember it being discussed back in the mid 2000's on here. Though 12 years has led to the circumstances becoming fuzzy.
He didn't beat him to death but got up on stage and gave him a good hiding for taking the piss out of his bird.
He was in jail for killing his mums boyfriend i think,was a long time ago now and he should be due for release soon.

Why isnt there any media news of these 'events' on the tinternet? Sure being a boxer and both those events would have been in a paper at some point?

It says he lost by TKO because he was cut by the shoe and wouldn't return to the ring. Boxing is a despicable sport.
I remember watching that fight and it was a disgraceful decision. McCarthy was hammering Wilson when the woman burst into the ring and started battering him over the head with a shoe - which sounds bizarre but it saved Wilson and McCarthy was badly cut as a result.
The referee should have called it off as a 'no contest'. To give it to Wilson was both stupid and unjust.
The fact he had an open wound that would likely be infected doesn't even come into the minds of old style refs or the BBBoC. He must have been disgusted with them. By no stretch of logic should he have lost by TKO! Was there a big crowd reaction, Merc?
Sadly, Brian Schumacher is still in jail. I believe he killed his father-in-law with one punch. I had the misfortune to watch Brian's last fight when he was mauled to defeat by the heavy handed but fairly ordinary John Foreman at the Edgbaston Tower Ballroom in Birmingham in 1990. It was all a long way from the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984 and three ABA final appearances at Wembley (two wins). Brian, who beat Henry Maske in the unpaid ranks, used to talk about winning more ABA titles than anyone else but suddenly went pro and made it to a couple of British title shots against former Olympic teammate Tony Wilson, who came through in wars. Brian beat Johnny Nelson, who had him on the deck, but the Wilson fights finished him.

I remember the Nelson fight,Johnny was as negative as ever.

Why "sadly"?
No idea. Brian is a nice guy but he can obviously look after himself if a confrontation occurs. I remember him at the bar after he won his ABA semi-final at Preston in 1983 and he was cracking jokes and enjoying life. He clearly fancied his chances against brash Londoner Tyrone Forbes in the final two weeks later but the relatively untested Forbes pipped him in a real up-and-downer. Brian's chin was never the best but he could dish it out and he had no fear. He was doing OK against Virgil Hill in the Olympics a year later but Hill turned it on in the third round to seal the points. Former good amateur Mark Slater told me that Brian really appreciates letters from those who remember him boxing but I failed to ask Mark in which nick Brian is staying.

Mo Hussein and Tony Wilson were both trained by Jimmy Tibbs. Hussein was there to support Wilson. When McCarthy was slung out it suddenly got ugly and there was a lot of pushing and shoving near the Wilson corner. Hussein picked up the knife wound, which fortunately was not serious.

Interesting insight. McCarthy's we're basically gangsters here in Southampton so don't doubt it would have kicked off.

Steve McCarthy was blameless in the Wilson fiasco but his behaviour thereafter smacked of a man who was impossible to control. In June 1991, he weighed-in for a defence of his British light-heavyweight title against Roy Skeldon in Birmingham and then demanded £5000 in TV money up front and refused to compromise, ultimately walking out of the fight. He was stripped of his British title and banned for six months. He was later banned sine die from all overseas fights after back-to-back disqualifications against Henry Maske and Dariusz Michaelczewski in Germany. His behaviour in those fights was simply appalling. He boxed just twice more, over here naturally, and then called it a day.
