Anyone else think
Anyone else think
The more i think about this fight , the more i can't help but think its too early for AJ , i just don't think he's had enough rnds against thinkers who can hit .. I know theres the age thing , but a guy like Klitchko who does'nt let himsel go inbetween fights , a guy who really has'nt took a awful lot of punishment , should get up for this one last fight , especielly motivated to win back his titles ... AJ has'nt been made to work to hard except against Whyte and that showed a few flaws , least of all he can be hurt ... Dunno just got a feeling its too early for him , and Hearns is seeing the dollars . I could be wrong in fact i usually am , but gut instinct tell me AJ is gonna get his ass handed to him .
Re: Anyone else think
If Wlad can ram an early jab or two in his face while he's coming in, Joshua may start to feel the same way. Only one way to find out...

Re: Anyone else think
I think boxing moves forwards not backwards, of course we get the odd shock now and again but to be honest how can a 41 year old bloke beat a machine like AJ? Im not saying its impossible for Klit to beat AJ but I just think time is not on Klits side and and he hasnt had a hard fight in many years. Most of his point wins have been by wide margins and havent been real wars where he has had to dig deep. The Fury fight wasnt a war and neither of them were tested.
I think its Joshua's time in this fight and im hoping AJ shows everyone here that do not like him that time does not stand still and makes Klit look that 41 years he is. Im hoping that AJ does not fall into the same fight as Fury and he gets caught late on because hes gassed out. AJ is not tested past round 7 as hes only been that far on 2 occasions. I think Klit will try to make this fight a long one in hope he can knock AJ out late on and I hope AJ knows that and does not allow the fight to be rugged with lots of holding and pushing.
I think AJ will come out and dominate the fight and let Klit taste a few jabs then get to him in round 4,5 or 6. If the fight goes longer than 7 rounds and is a borefest of pushing and grappling I think it will favour Klit and AJ could be stopped in the later rounds, possibly 9 onwards.

Re: Anyone else think
Before Klitschko fought Fury he'd recently become a father and his wife was suffering from depression. He'd also got comfortable and complacent.
Now he's back and hungry to retain his title.
Not sure if I've described this weekend or one of the Rocky films

Re: Anyone else think
I wouldn't say that either of those things affected Klitschko's performance. The problem was that he didn't know how to deal with Fury's movement. He got scared of pulling the trigger, so ended up not doing much at all. He has said this himself since the fight.Taansend wrote:Before Klitschko fought Fury he'd recently become a father and his wife was suffering from depression. Re: Anyone else think
There's definitely a more than a good chance Wlad wins this. AJ might be a bit to eager and walk on to one early. It's 50/50 IMO. Good fight. A lot of folk have written Wlad off unjustly.
Re: Anyone else think
Ive been saying this to anybody who will listen. When Wlad lands a left hook, get the camera on Eddie. Can AJ avoid the left hook straight right ALL night?
Wach was bigger than AJ, and Wlad broke him with the straight right, left hook, and was not at all phased in the slightest by the bigger man. Okay, Wach ain't AJ, but he was bigger, and Wlad bullied him.
Have a glance at this interesting HW historical power comparison. Wlad comes out on top, well above Tyson & Foreman for power against +215lbs non-bums http://www.heavyweightblog.com/2490/geo ... er-puncher
Who here can honestly tell me based on what we've seen so far that AJ can take a left hook or straight right from Wlad? Both men have the potential to go into their shell when they taste the power on the night.
Wlad KO 1-6

I hope the OP is right
Re: Anyone else think
I think AJ is a major favourite. Wlad has spent the majority of the last 10 years fighting people who were gassed by the time they walked to the ring, with the punch output of a 60 year old smoker.
I hope AJ is tested, because I'd like to know how good he is but Klitschko will, I think, be so reluctant to engage that we'll see a fairly one sided clinchfest until AJ nails him. He isn't suddenly going to turn into the last action hero.
The heavyweight division has been crying out for an authentic wrecking ball for years, we should be pleased he's British.

Re: Anyone else think
It amazes me anyone who predicts Wlad early, it really does. Pulev aside, who tactically got it all wrong, Wlad does NOT pull the trigger early, at all. To say Wlad 1-6, I mean even 6 is early for Wlad, but from 1? Absolutely no chance.
Is Joshua gonna avoid the straight right left hook all night? If Wlad is even throwing a 3 punch combinations that music be music to the ears of team Joshua. He only unleashes that if he is well and truly on top and there is little to nothing come backing from an opponent that causes any risk. Let's be real here, Wlad is safety first always. Expect him to be cagey trying to push out that jab early, once he's in control he'll slowly start to turn the screw. He he gets Joshua out of there, it'll be late. It won't be easy for him to establish control against a guy as big and fast as Joshua.

What do you seriously expect of AJ when he feels one of Wlads power shots? A few people are of the mind that AJ can avoid shots like Mayweather, and are basing Wlads whole career on his match against the one of a kind, unorthodox, Tyson Fury. One Klitschko power shot is all it will take to really see what AJ is made of. I hope he takes it well, I really do, but too many are writing Wlad off based on the fact they don't like his style.Ossyrules wrote:It amazes me anyone who predicts Wlad early, it really does. Wlad KO 1-6
Or any other punch.
I've said it for a while, let's have a fun over/under on the board on the number of right hands Wlad throws in the entire fight. It should be set at 4, maybe 3. I'm saying under 4.
Left hooks? In this one? 0 would be a sensible guess.
Re: Anyone else think
Think you're missing the point, Wlad will not be opening up, if Joshua needs to slip punches it'll be 90% jabs early. He won't need to be mayweather, Ali or Whittaker early. This isn't Wlad vs fury, this is Wlads career post getting stopped 3 times, when he developed the safety first approach. However if he does land a right hand on the button, I'm not saying he has no power, he's stopped 50+ opponents. He has really good power, and if Joshua doesn't see it coming so he can deal with it, he'll get stopped for sure.SAPFO wrote:What do you seriously expect of AJ when he feels one of Wlads power shots? If Wlad starts throwing 3 punch combos, straight rights and left hooks from the off, I'll be staggered. If he's on top from about 7 on wards if Joshua's been subdued then I expect them to come out

You have a choice between a young English fighter on the way up
Or
A former champion who with his brother have bored the life out of heavyweight boxing for a decade.
A Joshua win is better for the division in terms of keeping it exciting and future fights
But you're a fury fan boy so it makes sense. You can't see the wood for the trees!
Supporting klitschko as an English geezer. You should be ashamed!

Why do you hope he gets beat? For sake of argument, I'll say why I hope he doesn't:
Him winning is good for boxing in this country. More people interested in boxing, more people watching boxing both on TV and in person, more coverage of boxing in the media = good for boxing.
Wlad's time as champion was largely boring, safety first and did very little to attract much attention to the sport, which ultimately thrives on the spectacular over the effective. I'd rather not revisit this.
He's not a particularly hateful character. Maybe a little dull but not much more than that. I don't get any reason as to why anyone would hate him based on his public persona.
Re: Anyone else think
Wlad is one of my favourite fighters and I'll be supporting him no doubt. Would love to see him get a big KO, but I suspect that his time is up and that a loss is coming. Nothing against AJ, who is very entertaining in the ring...
The idea that someone has an obligation to support athletes from their country is laughable (I'm not British anyway).

I don't take to him mate, and I dont see what some see as a major issue because of that fact.
Many Brits don't take to AJ
I'm not going to be bitter if he wins
I'd just like to see the people who over hype him constantly, proved wrong

He knocked out Pulev with a left hook 2 fights ago. And vs Jennings, who pretty much came to survive and covered up the whole fight, Wlad threw loads of right hands., with most being blocked.Riddick Blowe wrote:Wlad doesn't throw left hooks any more.SAPFO wrote:Ive been saying this to anybody who will listen. Re: Anyone else think
I love his intelligence, professionalism, and power, and his bout with Charles Shufford was one of the first fights I watched when I got into the sport. He had such an intimidating presence, and I was amazed that a man that big could put his punches together like Wlad did (this was before the jab, right, grab days). Since then I've been on the Wlad train and never gotten off.
He gets a rough time, but he's always in shape, showed resilience to come back from hard losses, pretty much never avoided a challenge, and while the action isn't always great, he's regularly ended things in explosive fashion (I'm biased toward punchers).
