Canelo, used to love the guy, pro at 15, tough back ground and made it to the top, now he just hand picks guys half his size and puts in weight clauses etc whilst being shit scared to face G.
Gone of Khan too, thinks he's a much bigger name than he is and he is pudding his career away. How the Brook fight didn't happen with all that money on the table is madness.

Generally speaking I do not hate boxers except some obvious ones like Broner however I always had a real dislike for Bellew, could not stand him. Interviews would drive me insane......then got to spend a little time with him at the Haye weigh in and he is now maybe my favourite fighter as he is actually such a bloody nice chap. Hung around signing autographs, taking selfies, chatting with every single person. Top banana
Re: Boxers you used to be a fan of but then turned?
I find Bellew a bit of a sugar and shite character. I wouldn't say I've ever liked him but sometimes I'd find myself warming to him and others he just makes my fuckin teeth itch. Most of the time it's the latter.tobyh5 wrote:Generally speaking I do not hate boxers except some obvious ones like Broner however I always had a real dislike for Bellew, could not stand him. I didn't like the way Froch spoke about and treated Mick Hennessy when he signed with Hearn.
Khan and Haye are also good calls.

Used to be a fan of George Groves, now I can't stand him. Yes, he suffered a premature stoppage against Froch but never shut up about it, despite getting an immediate rematch and a huge payday for the rematch. Thankfully the outcome of the rematch was so decisive.

I agree about Chris Jr, but for a different reason; he puts a bloke in a coma, then two fights later KO's a guy. I watched him celebrate and smile and posture, while not even looking over to see if his opponent was ok. That's cold man. Cold like someone I don't want a bar of.Ossyrules wrote:Eubank jr
But that's mainly as a personality and the shocking management direction he has, IBO shite etc
He's still a real handful as a fighter though
Floyd
Just got fed up of hand picked opponents
Floyd and Canello for big timing it over small time opponents and big mouthing fights then talking their way out of them.

Canelo great call.... when I was younger, Hamed too. He went from being fresh and exciting to just being a prick. Even at the end with Hatton, it started to piss me off about how out of shape he'd let himself get....Nightmare Roy wrote:Canelo, used to love the guy, pro at 15, tough back ground and made it to the top, now he just hand picks guys half his size and puts in weight clauses etc whilst being poo scared to face G.

Defo Haye for me.

Also junior has no class. Chunky fights a war vs jack losing his teeth, and junior is straight on twitter after bad mouthing. He did the same to Kell brook after he's had his eye smashed in with the whole, my corner don't own towels tweet. Hennessy promoted Froch pathetically. Carl had every right to be furious.stujones wrote:I didn't like the way Froch spoke about and treated Mick Hennessy when he signed with Hearn.

Alan Minter - Used to like him until he brought race into the equation during the run to the Hagler fight, then I wanted Marvin to batter him, which the Marvellous one duly did.
Audley Harrison - I wanted him to succeed Lennox Lewis as the next great British HW, but even though I was slightly suspicious of him at the start, I turned on him during his pathetic performance against Danny Williams; a man he claimed he could beat within five fights of turning pro.
Amir Khan - Used to love Khan, but I am monumentally bored of him now. Thirty years old & is already semi-retired & has idled away his prime in the last 5 years. Spends more time on social media than he does fighting.

Re: Boxers you used to be a fan of but then turned?
Slightly suspicious? Ey? How could you not see through him immediately. Some are arguable but how far Audley would go never was, it was blatantly obvious. I had a letter printed in Boxing News early on saying I would bet my house he never wins a mainstream title and I would have.Syntax Error wrote: Audley Harrison - but even though I was slightly suspicious of him at the start,
It was not who he was fighting but how he was beating them. No "future of the division" which was the context people used would struggle as he did against that level of oppositon

Growing up I loved ODLH. As a promoter he really gets on my tits though.

Kell brook did exactly the same to Khan whilst he was still flat on his back in the ring iirc.Ossyrules wrote:Also junior has no class. Re: Boxers you used to be a fan of but then turned?
I was absolutely desperate for Hatton to beat Floyd, but I remember thinking afterwards he badly ducked the Witter fight. It should really have happened and made so much sense post-Mayweather, but he fought Lazcano in a fight which sold but nobody really wanted.boxingknockout wrote:Canelo great call.... when I was younger, Hamed too. It's why I've not been too anti-Khan for the Brook situation as he was clearly chasing bigger fights than Brook, namely Floyd, Pac and Canelo, one of which he got. But if he never fights him? Yeah - it's a massive black mark.

Re: Boxers you used to be a fan of but then turned?
Can't comment on that but if true it's poor from brook, although slightly different with Khan being a career rival of brook whose been shite talking all the way through it.
