Hometown robberies

Post by boxing_rocks »

Which of major boxing countries do you think has a highest percentage of hometown robberies. Pick up to 2.

Definition of a robbery: a hometown fighter winning no more than 4-5 rounds out of 12 (or a corresponding lower number of rounds in shorter fights) gets a decision.

I'd only offer that the fairest judging goes on in Japan.

Japan tend to use 3 neutral judges for their world title bouts...

Thailand deserves to be on the robbery list. Awful.

Hmm, adding Thailand and a couple more countries erased prior votes. Sorry.

I don't care where the judges are from.

Germany is by far the worst, but Mexico and the United States are among the worst.

Was more thinking that might be why the judging tends to be fairer there at world level. Some of the domestic scoring leaves a lot to be desired (Nawtedani vs Kinoshita). In the UK and US world title fights don't have 3 neutral judges, maybe they should

Perhaps, or maybe they don't buy them off. Either way, that's the fairest shake for a big fight.

Your definition of a robbery is off. A guy can clearly win 5 legitimate rounds, he only needs a couple of swing rounds then and he has the decision, or 1 for the draw

I said "winning NO MORE than 4-5 rounds" which means that all real swing rounds were already included in those 5.

The USA should be split into regions. Some states are fair, with some it's impossible to win a decision.

Germany is no where near as bad as it used to be

LOL to Vegas and NYC being fair. This poll is a child of another thread about Perez who was blatantly robbed in Vegas.

..although I agree that the "level of fairness" so to speak can differ from region to region, the US should be seen as one country..considering a large number of fights and regular practice of appointing local judges for international belts, this country would probably top this list..

But it's made up of many commissions. Some of them are more corrupt than others

I think Don King should get his option on that list. He'd win

One of the worst threads I’ve ever seen in this forum!

People aren’t going to actually gather facts and calculate percentages, as per the question posed by the poll, instead they will simply submit their votes using pure gut instinct, personal bias or adhering to mainstream opinion like a Lemming?

Nothing informative will be ascertained from this poll, other than exposing the personal bias held by those that voted.

Same in Australia from time to time. Mainly because judges tend to focus on homeboy's effort (with his record in mind) & totally ignore opponent's effort, who's from another State/Country.
IMHO, if they dismissed self programmed logic as to winner & focused more on the opponent.....things would be somewhat different.

..I'm somewhat surprised Germany tops the list...there've not been that many robberies if at all in the post-Sven-Ottke era..

There were biased decisions in Zsolt Erdei's fights. Also, women's boxing in Germany had biased decisions in the last several years.
