Tete vs Villanueva

Was away at weekend so catching up on all the fights. Only watched the first 10 rounds.

Just watched this one and noticed it was for the WBO interim bantamweight title. And that the full champion lost his title in the scales so Tete will probably be upgraded.

That being said I didn't think this is a good way to become a two weight world champion. The problem with this fight is Villanueva didn't want to engage at all so it didn't make for the best of fights.

I think Tete is highly skilled. His one sided domination of Butler is one of the best performances from an international fighter I have seen.

He NEEDS to be in with one of the top guys in the division NOW. Otherwise he is wasting his peak.

My personal choice would be WBA CHamp Zhakiyanov who is trained by Hatton and coming off an excellent win. He will bring it non stop to Tete and I think it would be a good fight.

I would also like to see Tete the no 1 at the weight Shinsuke Yamanaka. I think Tete would give him fits.

Hattons guy and Yamanaka are both good fights and very winnable for Tete. How do you think he'd do against McDonnell? I think Tete would give him a tanking. Probably won't happen though.

Exactly why I didn't mention McDonnell plus Jamie has unfinished business with Liborio Solis.

I just don't want Tete wasting his time with international opponents not at his level. It's going to put people off him with the quality gap unless he takes on the likes of Zhakiyanov or Yamanaka.

Can't see FW putting the huge money up , needed to get Yamanaka over here.

Yamanaka would never come over here, must get good money plus he is the clear number 1 in the division people should be going to him.

I think Tete gives him nightmares as he has the skill to take yamanakas straight left from him like Moreno did the the first fight ( which I felt he won ).

Good post. Tete has some of the slickness and awkwardness that Moreno has, plus he's consideranly more offensively minded and capable, plus I think he will have a little height and reach on Yamanaka?

Put those together and I think he'd give the Japanese fighter a heck of a go, he's got the defensive moves and the punch to make Yamanaka a bit hesitant, and te talent and skills to make him pay for it
