Sure, I meant generally since winning the cruserweight title. His mouth got him the fight with Haye in the first place!bigjack wrote:I thought beating Haye first time round got him into the position of granting him a rematch, still so many not giving Bellew any credit whatsoever for the victory, even if it was tainted somewhat by the injury.darkstar81 wrote:Bellew's mouth has gotten him into this position as much as his fists.

Re: Bellew vs Haye 2
What's the recovery like on a ruptured Achilles repair? Just wondering cause I can't see Bellew taking a stay busy fight and it could be a year til Haye is getting back to fighting realistically?
Re: Bellew vs Haye 2
Going to take at least a year id say to recover from that Achilles injury yeah
Re: Bellew vs Haye 2
Haye is just an old, broken down piece of meat. Like the dude in The Wrestler. Can't walk away, loves the limelight and the money too much, but he's done, totally done. This will be another con job if they can make this one fly.

Credit? Rematch? And they say casual fans are gullible.
This is neither a rematch nor is it a fight. Its a circus just like the first one. Although a very good circus it must be said.
And to those who believe Bellew was serious about fighting Parker.

Re: Bellew vs Haye 2
Just a money making scheme for both isn't it
Not relevant in anything

Re: Bellew vs Haye 2
It's a bit iffy, if there's a big PPV rematch in which one fighter could suffer another injury.
Please God, not another novelty fight.
Not exactly a great recipe, Haye without his reflexes and even his legs against Bellew who doesn't carry the weight gracefully.
If it happens, hopefully it ignites and justifies all the talk.

Hayes knackered. No way am I paying to watch the twat break down again. He's clearly just fighting for the cash. This was the guy that was chanting about retiring when he turned 30 or something. Wank!

I'm sure he will break down again if the rematch happens, either in training on during the fight.
Re: Bellew vs Haye 2
Bellew can't win barring another injury.
He doesn't have what it takes to outbox haye, or hurt him.

Re: Bellew vs Haye 2
I have a feeling Haye is finished at the top level. He has always been injury prone, even as a young amateur, and the fact he's only had 31 fights over a 15 year career highlights how those injuries have affected his career, an average of 2 fights a year is pretty poor. He won't be able to train with the same intensity as he used to anymore and he's lost the edge in speed he used to have. Assuming his body can last another hard camp I think his dream of being HW champ again is probably just that, a dream.
Re: Bellew vs Haye 2
Yeah Haye is done
He will just continue to break down and do himself damage if he thinks he can carry on boxing

Re: Bellew vs Haye 2
This is all spot on. First fight was pretty much a perfect result. Now Haye can take the re-match (if he doesn't trip on the ottoman) fairly easily and set up that much anticipated rubber matchlillywhite14 wrote:The first fight played out well for them both. Both got big money, now they will probably get bigger money to do the rematch!
Bellew has the two paydays instead of the expected one and Haye gets to earn big money against a fairly straight forward opponent ( as opposed to having to risk fighting a beast like Joshua for the big dough )
If fit, Haye wins. As said though, that's a huge if!!!!!
Re: Bellew vs Haye 2
Whether Haye is still willing and able to rethink a whole, long agenda of things seems to be pretty key for me.
Turn-up too big and bulky, apathetic and believing that Bellew was not in the fight and hitting you before the injury and he's bang in trouble.
Get trim, make speed the prime weapon again and recognise that Bellew is a worthy, hardened opponent with some decent skills who can't be sparked as and when you wish...then you've got a chance.
Over to you David.

It was sad to see Haye, a dazzling talent in his day, struggling to deal with a fighter who isn't fit to lace his boots.
I hope we don't see him fight again.

Yes I think it's time for Haye to pack it in now

Oh what a huge surprise, Bellew is not retiring, and these two has-been blowhards are cashing in again on a gullible public.
Re: Bellew vs Haye 2
I see the goodwill that Haye seemed to build up post-fight has already diminished.

Re: Bellew vs Haye 2
So if there is a rematch then it will probably be in about 12- 18 months time knowing how active Haye is. In the meantime Bellew will sit around waiting rather than risking fighting again
Re: Bellew vs Haye 2
If you say it was tainted by Haye injuring himself then what credit does Bellew deserve exactly? Fair play to Bellew for taking the fight in the first place, but that's it.bigjack wrote:I thought beating Haye first time round got him into the position of granting him a rematch, still so many not giving Bellew any credit whatsoever for the victory, even if it was tainted somewhat by the injury.darkstar81 wrote:Bellew's mouth has gotten him into this position as much as his fists.

Surviving the first round when most experts predicted he wouldn't ?
Re: Bellew vs Haye 2
To be fair I thought Bellew was going to get banjoed inside two rounds, I was surprised how well he stood up to the shots pre-injury, even though Haye's timing was awful.bigjack wrote:moogie101 wrote:If you say it was tainted by Haye injuring himself then what credit does Bellew deserve exactly?
