Dean Lonergan from DUCO is looking to put Umar Salamov 22-0 on the July 2nd Pacquiao-Horn undercard.
But Salamov will first face Emil Markic 24-1 on the Parker-Fury undercard on May 6th in New Zealand.

Jeff Horn and Manny Pacquiao will meet up for the first time next Wednesday at Suncorp Stadium.
Meanwhile Horn’s trainer, Glenn Rushton, remains hopeful they can secure WBO junior lightweight champion and 2 time Olympic gold medalist Vasyl Lomachenko as Horn’s main sparring partner.
Lomachenko, like Pacquiao, is a world class southpaw.
If they fail to secure Lomachenko, Rushton's plan B is Russian lightweight Denis Shafikov.

Well that would be something!
While not exactly stretched by the Sosa fight a few weeks back Loma has seemed very resolute in getting on with matters in his own career from the get go. If Horn's team can land him, even briefly, in the lead up to this bout, it would be a huge benefit to Jeff. I do think that is a big IF though.
Would have thought someone like Paul Fleming would have been worth getting on board too as a more local option.

There's a distinct shortage of quality local southpaws who are Jeff Horn's size.Tinnie wrote:Well that would be something!![]()

Horn would probably push Paul Fleming around too easily. A bloke like Kolby Johnson is at least more Horn's size.
Re: Jeff Horn vs Manny Pacquiao - Suncorp Stadium - July 2nd
Yeah im aware of the size difference, but along with being a s/paw, i thought Fleming might possess a bit more speed than he might find with the bigger guys. Speed is the first obstacle Horn is going to have to face, even before the combination punching and power. I also think its the one area Aussie boxers as a whole are well below par.Like a Boss wrote:There's a distinct shortage of quality local southpaws who are Jeff Horn's size.Tinnie wrote:Well that would be something!![]()

Anyway... was just thinking out loud.... i may be mistaken but had recalled Fleming made quite a good living, travelling and being recruited as a sparring partner in others camps.

Manny Pacquiao vs Jeff Horn rematch pencilled in for November
Manny Pacquiao will get an immediate rematch with Jeff Horn if he were to be upset by Horn at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane on July 2.
Dean Lonergan, the promoter of Horn, said Pacquiao would receive a rematch against Horn at the 55,000-seater in Brisbane.
"It’s an immediate rematch clause. If Jeff wins the world title, Manny wants it back straight away. Brisbane will be the focus of the boxing world on July 2 and with Manny’s promoter, Bob Arum, now involved Queensland is set to host some huge fights over the next few years," Lonergan said a day before Pacquiao arrived in Brisbane to promote the July 2 fight.
The rematch would most likely go down in November.

Any ideas to what the purses are looking to be?
Obviously Pac's will be significantly higher. Just curious as to how much of the pie Horn will end up receiving.

Ireland's Michael Conlon is a possibility for the Pacquiao-Horn undercard.

BOXING: Lang Park has been the venue of some memorable sporting moments over the years.
From the birth of State of Origin to Brisbane Roar's epic 2010-11 A-League grand final triumph.
Today, a less competitive, yet equally amazing moment took place at the venue in the Paddington Room in the northern grandstand of Suncorp Stadium.
Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is in Brisbane to promote his huge WBO world welterweight title fight against Queensland school teacher Jeff Horn on July 2 at Suncorp Stadium.
But before that, Pacquiao got to catch up with a familiar face from back in the capital of the Philippines, Manilla.
That blast from the past and former sparring partner was adopted Toowoomba boxer Jack Asis.
During his teenage years, life was tough for Asis as he lived on the streets of Manilla looking for work to support his family.
An elder of Asis' village in Manilla introduced him to boxing which led to meeting Pacquiao before going on to twice spar with the Filipino legend.
About 14 years on and both children of the Philippines reunited, at Suncorp Stadium of all places, with their lives in vastly different circumstances from years before.
Pacquiao is considered one of the greatest boxers of all time.
He is a world champion in eight divisions which is an incredible achievement.
Pacquiao is also a senator in the Philippines so he is influential in and out of the boxing ring.
Asis has also come a long way since living on the streets of Manilla as he will fly out to Thailand on Friday ahead of his WBA international super featherweight title fight against Can Xu on May 7 in China.
The 33-year-old, who has made a home in Toowoomba for the past five years, has held the IBO world super featherweight title so he is no stranger to fighting for titles.
But even he was excited to meet Pacquiao again.
"I'm very happy because it is a long time since I've been sparring with him," Asis said of his brief reuniting with Pacquiao.
"I'm very happy to meet again."
The meeting is a timely high for Asis two days out from flying to Thailand to build on preparations for his own title fight.
"I'm ready to go to my fight on May 7," he said.

Re: Jeff Horn vs Manny Pacquiao - Suncorp Stadium - July 2nd

Asis was invited to re-unite with his fellow country man at the launch of his upcoming bout with Australian Jeff Horn.
"Today very special to me," Asis said.
"Many years ago we spar together in gym in the Phillipines and like all Filipinos Manny Pacquaio is my idol.
"He inspired me to be a boxer."
Asis presented Pacquiao with a special glove painted by Toowoomba aboriginal artist Daniel Blades. The glove designed by Blades symbolised Pacquiao as a warrior, a leader, it incorporated his visit to Australia with a kangaroo and defined Jack Asis' journey to once again cross paths with Pacquaio.
"This glove very special and I'm very appreciative of Daniel Blades painting this glove for me to give to Manny," Asis said.
The meeting was the perfect motivational boost for Asis, who jets out of Toowoomba on Friday to head to China to face Xu Can in a World title eliminator on May 7.
"This very inspirational to me," Asis said.
"I have big fight in China and meeting Manny has only made me hungrier for victory.
"Manny is a World champion and I want to be a World champion again."
Asis and his trainer manager Brendon Smith also had the opportunity to chat with Pacquiao's promoter the legendary Bob Arum.

Re: Jeff Horn vs Manny Pacquiao - Suncorp Stadium - July 2nd
As much as I don't think Jeff has much of a chance, just a comparison of their records indicate that. I am still of the opinion that re-match clauses, no matter for whom or what weight are a blight on the game. A world title should not be the play thing of two boxers. Sure in this case Jeff would WANT to fight Manny in a re-match for his first defence, just for the money. but the loser should go back into the mix in order to give another fighter a crack.
Re: Jeff Horn vs Manny Pacquiao - Suncorp Stadium - July 2nd
Not sure i completely understand. Especially in the case of long term champions, they would more often than not be ranked first contender anyhow.
Ive always seen the immediate rematch clause as a bit of insurance in case of an upset or close/dodgy result.
I mean in this day and age, to lose a title and have to wait for 1 or defences.... you could likely have guys waiting a year or two before a rematch is made....

Disagree as a champion you have earned that right. Imagine if there was no rematch with Ward-Kovalev it would be criminal.Grant wrote:As much as I don't think Jeff has much of a chance, just a comparison of their records indicate that. I've never had an issue with immediate rematches, as long as they are immediate.
Re: Jeff Horn vs Manny Pacquiao - Suncorp Stadium - July 2nd
Yeah I know people disagree with me but I think that only allowing an opponent to challenge if he agrees to a rematch is limiting opportunities and therefore encouraging fighters not getting a crack to seek out or create other 'Titles'.
Firstly a Champion should act like one defending against the best and letting the cards fall where they may, I know the challenger may not want a rematch but he then becomes the champ and will make decisions based on many things as has Manny. (mostly the bottom line)
Anyway it's just a bug I have about multi-millionaire fighters, (Good on em), dictating who fights for 'their' title even when they are no longer champs.
So technically if a champion losses and it's not a robbery, I don't expect it to happen here by the way, but would have a smile on my face the size of the murray river if it did, then the loser has a signed legal contract for a re-match before any of the other challengers in the division.
