How do you nullify Klitschko's jab?

Joshua will nullify Wlad's jab by, err, Wlad not throwing it

Strange that some are suggesting that Joshua won't be able to do what Fury did because Fury as we all know is this multi-faceted riddle, or at least turned into one when he beat the old statue.

They're right though in a way, Joshua won't need to stare at Wlad for 12 rounds when he can just walk through him instead.

Well last time I checked, Joshua wasnt 6"9, he didnt have an 85 inch reach, he didnt switch between the Orthodox and Southpaw stance and he also doesnt move particularlily fluidly for a guy of his size unlike Fury.

Fury might be considered to have clumsy footwork but he is pretty light on his feet for a guy as big as he is

The biggest problems Wlad had in that fight was Fury's constant movement and Fury's length.

I believe Joshua will win but I dont see him doing it in the fashion Fury did. I see him being offensively minded against Klitschko rather than defensively minded like Fury predominantly was.

I think Joshua will force Klitschko to throw and subsequently take him out within 5 as Wlad basically has a panic attack and falls apart.

Ah okay then fair enough. I thought you were saying that Joshua could adopt the same strategy as Fury if he wanted too.

I agree though that I think Wlad's confidence is going to be down based off of the Fury loss and the added pressure of his career being on the line.

I see him being very tentative and gun shy and Joshua just overwhelming him. I also wouldnt be shocked if he had points deducted for his usual holding tactics, which could shockingly be even more prevelant than usual.

A classic mike tyson attack which Joshua has the right style and physique to adopt. Tuck up Move in quick, duck , bob and weave in unleashing those quick hand combinations on the inside. Joshua may be inexperienced and flawed but he is too big and strong for klitschko to lean on and hug.

Joshua has the right physique and style to replicate Mike Tyson? AJ is half a foot taller with 11" extra reach and is 25+ lbs heavier. Not to mention his relatively limited head and foot movement and the fact that he tends to throw straight shots rather than hooks and uppercuts. He fights nothing like Mike Tyson.

Yeah, as the Indongo fight vs BUrns showed, tall guys who have never fought like Joe Frazier don't tend to morph into him suddenly

I was referring to his physical presence rather than his dimensions. He has good hand speed and took Whyte out with an upper cut, Cornish he took out with hand speed and a quick combination while moving inside Cornish' jab (different levels I know but still those are Joshua's strengths). He needs to tuck up and fight wlad on the inside rather than try what Fury did and use his height and reach advantage. Joshua can't beat wlad jab for jab. And there's a difference in leaning and hugging a smaller opponent and one who is bigger and stronger and hits you on the inside while you are trying to smother.

Punch with Klitschko..... When he jabs you jab - Joshua being the faster man and possibly stronger puncher should be enough to deter Wlad.

He's been fairly cautious his whole career so if this is the case for a round or two then Wlad should go gun-shy first. He panics under return fire.

Wlad without the jab is 50% of his arsenal gone - he would turn into a sitting duck.

Not easy to beat the Wlad Jab unless you have physical advantage like fury, but realistically very few will have this, Wlads a big geezer.

The next best way would be being an inside fighter, but virtual no heavyweights fight like this these days. Someone with head movement looking to duck and slip under the jab to go at the body. Almost all heavies fight almost always on the outside now.

Joshua's best chance will be hand speed. Some sharp counters and that jab won't be pumping out, he'll be too scared about what's coming back to throw it with any authority

For Joshua....be first with his own jab, step in behind it, perhaps double it and unleash combinations off it.

This isn't complicated. Klitschko doesn't counter....he only seeks to panic and hold when under attack. But Joshua has the size to push him off in the clinches and then throw big punches off it. And good things will happen.

The danger in this fight is if Joshua shows too much respect and waits around on Klitschko, giving him a chance to settle in and slow the pace. From this posture Klitschko can be dangerous with sneak left hooks and the big right. But if Joshua is offensive and doesn't give him chance to settle in then Joshua will seize the initiative and Klitschko will crumble both physically and mentally.

Fury beat Klitschko in a different manner to how Joshua will do it....Joshua won't use back foot boxing to perplex and upset Klitschko's rhythm. He instead needs to step in, get offensive and his power and speed will take care the of the rest. The one thing that Joshua can take from Fury's triumph is the need to take away Klitsko's 'control'. Wlad is a controller, not a responder and that's key. Stop him from getting a comfort zone and he's f*cked.

'Carpe diem' should be Joshua's motto for this fight. He's been all sweetness and light in the build up, but he needs to unleash the beast tonight. Get nasty and watch Klitschko go over early and easy. This will be done within 4.
