Why do people dislike Wladimir Klitschko so much?

I keep reading lots of derogatory comments about Wladimir Klitschko on this forum, where people seem to persistently vent their severe hatred of the man… and I’d like to understand the root cause of their frustration.

When I interrogate his boxing career, I really can’t help but feel hugely impressed:
• Will be competing in his 29th world title fight against Anthony Joshua
• Has captured the WBA Super, IBF, WBO, IBO & Ring world titles
• Will become a three time world champion if he manages to defy the betting odds by defeating Anthony Joshua
• Has competed against thirteen unbeaten fighters, with nine of them being world title opposition
• Assuming the Ukraine and Germany are classed as his “home” countries, seventeen of his bouts have taken place on foreign soil, including countries such as: USA, Russia, Switzerland, Hungary, United Kingdom, Austria etc.
• 83% of his victories have come by way of knockout
• He is the second longest-reigning heavyweight champion of all-time
• When he enters the ring against Anthony Joshua, he will be facing his sixteenth current/former world champion
• He is the 1996 super-heavyweight Olympic gold medallist
• Has overcome adversity multiple times throughout his career and also learned from his defeats to become a vastly improved fighter

Other interesting points include:
• Possesses a PhD in Sports Science
• Speaks four languages
• Partly owns both the K2 & KMG businesses
• Has a role as a professor teaching master’s degree level courses in Switzerland
• He is actively involved in three charities (Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, UNESCO & the Klitschko foundation) relating to the following causes: At-Risk/Disadvantaged Youths, Children, Education, Human Rights, Literacy, Poverty & Sports

In terms of Saturday night’s fight, I don’t really hold a bias for either fighter, but it does kind of annoy me that people lavish massive praise on Anthony Joshua, whilst lambasting Wladimir Klitschko, but I really can’t understand the reason why?

Does Wladimir Klitschko not deserve any credit for anything that he has achieved throughout his life, because many people that frequent this forum seem to regard him as some sort of villainous heinous evil despicable specimen of humanity?

I never personally viewed most of Wladimir's fights as boring.. However the Povetkin fight was outrageous.. his methods of securing victory over top talent are interesting, I would say. I do hate clinching, which Johnson, Ali, Mayweather, Klitschko, Hopkins, Khan, Broner, and many famous boxers throughout the history of the sport engaged in excessively... And forget "excessive" holding because clinching is specifically NOT allowed by Queensberry Rules...

Referees always say "no holding." They never say "Some holding is okay guys." To me any holding is a foul, but it's a practice that is allowed so I'll live with it.. Pushing, shoving, leaning, grabbing, holding and hitting, palming, wrestling, and leveraging with the head are all fouls that seem to be ignored by some referees.. There're too many biased "house referees" who ignore fouling by their guy and this leads to more fouling and boring, stinking fights.

Klitschko himself is a modest and very accomplished man.. He's a very nice guy.. He has one of the greatest ring records in Heavyweight History.. He's a natural athlete who admits he's not a natural boxer like his brother was.. Although he's an Olympic Champion it took him a long time to master the sport.. He was a lot like Joe Louis who needed a really great trainer to bring out the best in him.. However, he made the coaching changes he needed to make.. He's a man who sets goals and pursues them with unmatched determination.

I don't dislike him, but I'm glad he is near the end of his boxing career so we can see more exciting fights, although this upcoming fight is highly anticipated and I think it will be a good one for as long as it lasts. I dislike Tyson Fury because he is an attention hog who is no longer a champion and yet he makes videos saying that The Gypsy King is back, but you never see him training in a gym. Yeah, he's back...at Burger King.

Ill have the beer and the tickets. Because he is a very engaging gentleman who knows to win unlike Floyd Mayweather. Plus he and Vitali Wladmirovich have experienced a greater level of hardship too.

It has nothing to do with success. As most said, it is the way he fights. He becomes worse and worse, and what he did in the Povetkin fight was just atrocious towards boxing fans. He could have won in a fight, but he preferred to win a wrestling match.

The champions before him, that held the lineal championship for a length of significant time, promoted the sport and made it better. Wlad chose to kidnap the championship and fight in obscurity for years. Boring. Bland and uninspriring reign is how it will be remembered.

When your most noteworthy fight of your career is getting knocked out by a taxi driver then that tells you all that you need to know about this fish.

Boxing will be far better off with a champion like Anthony Joshua who is already fighting on primetime in front of 90k people. Watch Boxing take off with a real heavyweight champion like AJ.

It's clearly your prerogative to dislike the man, but to describe Klitschko's legacy in such an horrendously dishonest, derogatory and factually-incorrect manner is simply not acceptable.

Whilst I agree, someone that seems too “perfect” or too “nice”, can sometimes be less entertaining than an eccentric controversial character, I don’t feel that it’s a good enough reason to justify some of the venomous severe hate-filled aggressive comments that I’ve read about Klitschko on this forum.

For sure, everyone’s entitled to their personal opinion, to like or dislike whoever they choose, and I’m not trying to defend Klitschko if anyone has a legitimate gripe about the man. However, I’m utterly mystified about the vile comments that people regularly post on this forum about him.

I can understand people’s complaints about Wladimir being “boring”, but some of the other remarks, that are much more hateful in nature, seem utterly bizarre to me.

I do think it has something to do with success. Some of his fights have been real stinkers which excasperates the hate but some people would hate him regardless.
