I think it was pantomime stuff myself.
Promoters, agents etc are seen as being a bit spivvey and a natural target for pantomime boo's, a bit like ref's in footy.
Eddie is very good at his job and comes across quite well tbh, seems like he'd be a laugh to have a bevvy with.

I'm sure he was chosen for a reason and it's worked for them but it doesn't mean it wouldn't have worked with allegedly or Maloney if they had been given the same platform. Given their histories I don't see why not.

Warren had Box Office fights for years and it ultimately didn't work. You can't put Khan v Fagan and Audley v Rogan on Box Office, directly opposite Froch v Pascal on normal TV, and expect people to buy it.

Different circumstances, different boxers and a different boxing landscape then. Allegedly didn't have the stable then that Hearn has now nor the exclusivity that Hearn now has with Sky. I believe the Khan fight was part of a Box Office event that included de la Hoya-Pacquiao later that night? Doesn't seem a fair comparison to me. My point about their histories is that both allegedly and Maloney put on big fights and guided big name UK boxers successfully. I don't see where they could have gone wrong by Joshua if they were in Hearn's shoes.

I disagree about Maloney - from memory I don't remember him promoting any big shows. He had David Haye fighting in leisure centres. I know he managed Lewis but I think the biggest shows he promoted were the shows with David Price before he was KO'd.

Whilst Warren did haven't have full control on Sky he was clearly the top dog and only promotor putting fairly regugular shows on at Arenas. For 2004/2008 he had first pick of the olympians but I'd argue there were far too many easy title defences, thin cards and, with the exception of Hatton/Naz, not much promoting of the boxers.

I fully agree though that Joshua is a promotors dream - I just don't think Warren/Maloney would have done such a successful job as Matchroom have.
