Wlad Klitschkos chin

Post by Loki »

Is it as bad as first thought? Or did he prove he can take clean shots and fire back (5th round).

The Sanders fight is really his only clear KO loss, he was stopped on his feet on all others (Brewster, Purity).

Don't get me wrong, it's not like his brothers, McCall or Tex Cobbs, but it's certainly not crystal.

I think he takes a reasonably good shot. I've never seen him put down by anything that didn't look like a devastating shot...except for maybe that one where Corrie Sanders drops him in a clinch, but by then he had already been down more than once and clearly was still on shaky legs anyhow.

I've been saying for years that Wlad is no where near as fragile as some claim. He has a good chin. It's not great but it's MUCH better than he is given credit for. He also has enormous heart; the times he's been knocked down he has *always* gotten back up. There is zero quit in Wladimir Klitschko.

Wlad has an average chin, it is obvious. Of course his chin is weak comparing with his punch power, or stamina.

..average and I believe Wlad was well aware of it saying on several occasions that he had to protect his chin.

And even against Sanders he wans't counted out - he got up all 4 times that Sanders put him down

..I thought "getting up" tells you more about his heart than his chin..

My belief is people get branded glass jawed these days too easily and once they have that labelled is doesn't shake off.

Lennox had it after McCall and then it was reinforced vs Rahman. Lennox took loads of good shots in his career, he was not glass jawed. Many men hit the floor when they've been caught on the button, it happens.

Wlad had an ok chin but it weren't exactly Chris eubank.

As ever with boxing, things aren't as bad as people make out, and also not as good also
