Frankie Gavin - Ryan out, Garrido in.

Post by magnus »

According to his local paper, Gavin will be fighting the guy who beat Bradley Saunders a while back.

It also states he's 11 1/2 stone at the moment, so the move to light-welter is going well.

I think Garrido is the better opponent at this stage....much better than his numbers suggest.

Ryan and Garrido have similarities, both fit, strong, tough blokes who get stuck in but have little power.

Both are a bit better than their records suggest.

But Frankie should win a clear decision against either fighter. But he will have to work for it.

Gavin should just retire. The writing was on the wall when he was eating beans on toast at the Olympics and not making weight

Very interesting what the odds will be. Garrido must surely be worth a tenner.

I really fancy Garrido winning this.
Speak to him quite a lot on social media. Absolute top fella. But Gavin will be in great shape after ditching Coke for Pepsi Max and only having 47 of Heinz varieties in his training diet.

Not a big better but can you bet on the specific outcome ie Gavin by split decision.

Think this fights got dodgy home split decision robbery written all over it

I agree unless Gavin gets KO'ed its getting it. This is his last shot and Hearn going to give ever opportunity to win a world title.

Fuckin ridiculous. What happened to doing 140? Gavin should just give it up and get a day job because his hearts obviously not in it. Very unprofessional.

Gavin is taking the piss here. Only weighed in below the welterweight limit twice in two and a half years (7 fights including tomorrows), which is just a complete lack of professionalism - I forgot he weighed in at 149.75 for the Eggington fight!

At least take a bit of accountability for your own career and life, and go about your job properly. He, and everybody else, knows that his future is only at 140, and there can be no excuse that he cant make 140 - he simply does not try.

I honestly think Garrido is in with a chance of beating Gavin tomorrow, using a similar blueprint to Eggington. From there, Gavin is a Euro / British level gatekeeper at best.

How disappointing for his long term fans, and embarrassing for him.

I swear the original fight with Dave Ryan was supposed to be at something like 143 as well, never mind 147. Really poor from Gavin and far from the first time. He's then gone on Twitter to tell people that the Garrido fight was only supposed to be at 147 so coming in at 149 is "no big deal". Complete lack of professionalism and respect for the sport and his opponents. No doubt if he comes through with a win he'll think he's entitled to some sort of British/European title shot as well. The self-important attitude of some boxers does my fvcking head in. Also note how this type are the first to start complaining when something goes against them! :brick:
