I first saw this footage a couple of years ago and could never find it again... that's because I kept looking for Kid Berg and the title of the video was completely different.
It's not Jackie that was the surprise, it was first the quality of the footage and then it was the Skill & Ability of his opponent, Irish Welter cum Middleweight Paddy Roche.
a Journeyman/fringe contender fighter, his seasoned ring craft is excellent and his 'on the ropes' defense is not only very familiar (PBF), but more importantly this excellent piece of fight footage is yet another example of Clear GOOD Footage that gives a much better reality to just how good these old fighters really were.
as I always State "it's not the fighters that were shit, it's was the film footage!"
here again is some more excellent footage for comparison, starting at 1:25 seconds in...
the first fight too they are just Journeymen Club fighters, but still good footage to see clear, then you get to Kid Berg, who is at the end of his great career but still a great banger, then you see the subtle skills both boxing & defense of his opponent, very nice and reminiscent of Pretty Boy Floyd on the ropes.
Nothing New under the Sun as the saying goes. Enjoy.

Great OLD Skill footage.
Re: Great OLD Skill footage.
That was pretty cool, thanks for posting
It would be amazing if they had the ability to make other older fights that clear, but I guess that will never happen.
