Boxer jailed after trying to use the Magna Carta to avoid council tax
Boxer jailed after trying to use the Magna Carta to avoid council tax
see this online today. seems to be a "freeman on the land" (sovereign citizen to the americans) who doesn't think the law applies to him.

I admire guys like this who try to use loop holes to avoid paying or getting out of legal issues.
The only issue is that you aint ever gonna beat the council, tax man and the wife.

unfortunately it's people like him who ultimately cost the people who do pay more money to sustain those who want to waltz through life not paying their waymimmy123 wrote:I admire guys like this who try to use loop holes to avoid paying or getting out of legal issues.

They're not really loop holes. Freemen on the land are borderline insane.mimmy123 wrote:I admire guys like this who try to use loop holes to avoid paying or getting out of legal issues.

He gave it a go and paid the debt when he lost. He had the balls to try it.tsunami wrote:unfortunately it's people like him who ultimately cost the people who do pay more money to sustain those who want to waltz through life not paying their waymimmy123 wrote:I admire guys like this who try to use loop holes to avoid paying or getting out of legal issues.

Surprised the judge didn't do him with contempt of court trying to use that pish as a defence for not paying.mimmy123 wrote:He gave it a go and paid the debt when he lost. Fackin robbing bastards councils. I pay more & more each year, and I see less police, I have to use less rubbish, and I have to sort through the shite myself so they don't have to. Tax on my wages, tax on my fuel, food, anything I buy. Tax tax tax!
Did you know you do not pay VAT on a digestive biscuit, but you do on a chocolate digestive biscuit? The chocolate is classed as a 'luxury', therefore VAT is due. What a load of b0llocks.

Fair play to him, like Mimmy says at least hes got the bollocks to try it.
What hes saying is correct.
The law of the land is the Magna Carta signed by King John and as the Queen promised when she swore on the oath of allegiance that she would uphold the laws of the land.
So technically anything not covered under the laws of the Magna Carta are simply statutes of law or acts of law, which are just adjustments basically.

I've seen quite a few of these guys try this defence. Funnily enough, they all seem to end up being fined/jailed/laughed at, despite maintaining that what they say is 'correct.'LancashireLoyal wrote:Fair play to him, like Mimmy says at least hes got the bollocks to try it.

The magna carta is not a legally relevant document. Anyone trying this is an idiot.
Re: Boxer jailed after trying to use the Magna Carta to avoid council tax
Just pay your taxes like everyone else and stop fornicating about.
Re: Boxer jailed after trying to use the Magna Carta to avoid council tax
It's a historical marvel, but a legal relic. I took my kids to the Magna Carta exhibition at the British Library a couple of years ago. My son, then aged 6, asked why it said nasty things about woman and Jewish people.....jamesmcdonnell wrote:The magna carta is not a legally relevant document. Anyone trying this is an idiot.

Billionaires dodge millions and the shape shifters give them Knighthoods, your average Joe dodges a few quid and ends up in the clink.

They don't dodge anything. They use loopholes created for them by their pals. That's the difference.Nightmare Roy wrote:Billionaires dodge millions and the shape shifters give them Knighthoods, your average Joe dodges a few quid and ends up in the clink.![]()

And of course, he didn't actually serve any time as he paid the debt in full rather than be incarcerated.
I understand that different people have differing views as to what tax they should pay, but I don't think there is any form of coherent argument for not paying your council tax.

I knew a guy who didn't pay his he was just a fckin idiot who couldn't even spell Magna Carta. His wages were arrested and they were taking 20 odd percent of his money every week.Loynesy wrote:And of course, he didn't actually serve any time as he paid the debt in full rather than be incarcerated.

I've seen it too. It's pathetic. There's a guy famous for his freeman shite stays on a farm near here. He got caught with a very small personal amount of grass and ended up in jail for three months because he wouldn't give his name. He'd have had a £60 spot fine had he just been sensible.

Can't knock him for trying, anybody who thinks they are getting value for money for the tax they pay is an idiot. I'd feel less violated being raped by a donkey.
