WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
There's money in the Eric molena fight but not this? Come on
Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
The only difference would be that Joshua is now post-Wlad. We'll wait and see; if it is indeed Pulev then he's on the same level as Ortiz and there is little difference financially. If they really decide to go all out for Wilder then obviously that is a far bigger fight.ProMayhem wrote:There's money in the Eric molena fight but not this? Come on

Team Wilder will have accomplished their goal of protecting Wilder meticulously while waiting for the perfect cashout fight that he would certainly have a puncher's chance in.dirk2686 wrote:The only difference would be that Joshua is now post-Wlad. Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
I would be disappointed if Hearn veered away from the Ortiz fight because there is no money in it. There's only about 3-4 fight with 'money in it'. What you guna do? Take 4 more fights and retire? You should fight these guys, especially when they're mandatory. If AJ vacates than fight Ortiz, I'll lose a lot of respect for both.
Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
Can't see AJ fighting Ortiz tbh, doubt Hearn wants it either

Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
My goodness me, and what would his grounds be for legal action? If Joshua doesn't satisfy his mandatory, he'll be stripped, and Ortiz will be ordered to fight someone else.wesshaw1985 wrote:Luis Ortiz Threatens Legal Action if Anthony Joshua is Not Next! - See more at: http://www.BS.com/luis-ortiz-t ... q3Xrd.dpuf

Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
according to the IFL interview today, "Ortiz is not really a priority, because it (WBA Mandatory) is not pending like the IBF one is."
Back of the que for Mr. Ortiz then...

Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
Ortiz agreed to step aside to allow Joshua and Klitschko to fight for the WBA belt despite being no1 in the governing body- on the proviso that he got the next shot. He's said he doesn't care if he fights Joshua. He just wants to fight for the belt.Rob3_142 wrote:My goodness me, and what would his grounds be for legal action? Ortiz won't get a shot at AJ - his career will peter out.

Which is sad to be honest.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Ortiz won't get a shot at AJ - his career will peter out.
Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
That's fair enough. But it's not like the WBA is the only part of the equation. The IBF has been pending longer, and will take precedence. Once that has been sorted, then the WBA will need to be addressed.IT wrote:Ortiz agreed to step aside to allow Joshua and Klitschko to fight for the WBA belt despite being no1 in the governing body- on the proviso that he got the next shot. However, is there the possibility that both the IBF and WBA strip Joshua if Klitschko demands the rematch? Is it possible that the rematch is for no belts?
Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
AJ is allowed one fight in the interim.
Dont see why he can't have a match. Being active will be better than not. Getting gassed against Wlad might be less if a problem if he can stay busy.
He was fighting every 8 weeks

Joshua has said he's only going to fight twice a year from now on. Similar to Canelo.KiwiRider wrote:AJ is allowed one fight in the interim.

Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
Yeah but whilst that is true (regarding the IBF) that's not Ortiz's problem. He stepped aside to allow those two to fight on the condition that he got the next shot. The guy is 38 (probably even older than that in reality) - he hasn't got that much longer left in his career. He said If Joshua doesn't want to fight him fine but either give up the belt or the WBA should strip him.Rob3_142 wrote:That's fair enough. But it's not like the WBA is the only part of the equation. Every 6 months someone will start a thread
"Anyone heard of Luis Ortiz? What happened to Him ? Could he have beaten everyone?"
Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
Oh yeah it's clear what Ortiz's priority, and for that I do not blame him. But Ortiz threat of a law suit if he doesn't get his title shot is a little bit in vain. The WBA sanctioned the title fight between Joshua and Klitschko and it will be up to them to press the issue or strip him. I don't think they'll do either, not in the next 6 months at least, especially if he promises to fight Ortiz after the IBF mandatory (providing Klitschko doesn't take the rematch).IT wrote:Yeah but whilst that is true (regarding the IBF) that's not Ortiz's problem. Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
Well I don't believe he was talking about a law suit against Joshua or Hearn and Co. He was talking about taking a lawsuit out against the WBA. He's been the the number 1 contender for awhile now and they keep screwing him around. It's even more farcical when the mandated Briggs-Oquendo for their second rate belt.Rob3_142 wrote:Oh yeah it's clear what Ortiz's priority, and for that I do not blame him. Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
I'd pick AJ
Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
Ah yes, in which case I completely agree. But then the WBA has always been an absolute shambles of an organisation. I genuinely feel sorry for Ortiz. First the belts were tied up with Fury for 18 months, and then Ortiz was pushed aside for the Joshua-Klitschko fight.IT wrote:Well I don't believe he was talking about a law suit against Joshua or Hearn and Co. Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
AJ would win.
Ortiz is looking less and less impressive every time out, and he just keeps getting older and slower. AJ is getting better and better. The more time passes, the less interesting this fight becomes.
They need to either fight by the end of this year or early next year or just not even bother.

Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
I can see the Ortiz fight never happening and Joshua sparking Fury in a year/eighteen months.
We'll then have an endless series of comments about Joshua ducking the former and not fighting the 'real' latter.

Re: WHO WINS? Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz
Ortiz is another in a long line of Cuban pro's, especially it seems at heavyweight, who turn over from the amateur code late, move to America, make a bit of money, which comparatively seems a fortune to them, start enjoying life in America, get fat and lazy, and never develop a following, and then their careers end up as a side note in boxing history.
Ortiz was always up against it, professional boxers from cuba don't really generate much of a following, if he wanted to succeed, he had to be busy, and impressive. I don't care where you're from, if you keep bowling people over, and bashing them up, people sit up and take notice, that's effectively what GGG did.
Ortiz has probably also been stiffed by signing with Hearn, who will wheel him out as an opponent for his prospects probably, and keep him well away from AJ, whilst he potentially poses any threat.
Now that AJ has beaten Wlad, I don't expect Hearn to be throwing him any curve balls.

Well considering Ortiz has now signed with Al Haymon, I don't see that happening anyway.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Ortiz is another in a long line of Cuban pro's, especially it seems at heavyweight, who turn over from the amateur code late, move to America, make a bit of money, which comparatively seems a fortune to them, start enjoying life in America, get fat and lazy, and never develop a following, and then their careers end up as a side note in boxing history.

I don't think the lack of English has helped him much. He can't make much noise when the biggest markets don't understand what he is saying.
