Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
Who will be P4P #1?
Winner of Ward-Kovalev or Golovkin-Alvarez?

Re: Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
Maybe still Vasyl Lomachenko or someone like that, but if any of the 4 big name fighters in the respective upcoming superfights get a clear, controversy free win in either of those fights that'll definitely be a huge boost.
Re: Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
Hard one for me. I think currently Ward-Kovalev are higher up in P4P than Golovkin-Canelo, so a winner from the first fight will probably edge it. That being said, if someone was to get an impressive KO of his opponent, I would like for that to weigh heavily in who would take the spot.

How impressive the victory was, and how good of a fight it was usually always factors into how people rank the fighters.Rob3_142 wrote:Hard one for me. Why don't you wait until he has earned that status before you call him the No.1?
Re: Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
Lomachenko needs a few more fights and wins over quality before he can be p4p 1...
Re: Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
His dominant victories over Walters and Sosa is as impressive as anything any other fighter in the sport is currently doing. He HAS earned his status. Walters was the #1 Featherweight just a short while ago and Lomachenko absolutely dominated him with ease.Horse wrote:Still Lomachenko?gilgamesh wrote:Maybe still Vasyl Lomachenko or someone like that, but if any of the 4 big name fighters in the respective upcoming superfights get a clear, controversy free win in either of those fights that'll definitely be a huge boost.

He's already thoroughly beaten Gary Russell Jr.
Re: Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
He has more quality wins than a lot of other big name fighters already, and his wins have been of the dominant variety.walshb wrote:Lomachenko needs a few more fights and wins over quality before he can be p4p 1...
Re: Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
His best win was Russell. Walters was good, and Sosa was good..Needs a few more wins and maybe a rise to LW?gilgamesh wrote:He has more quality wins than a lot of other big name fighters already, and his wins have been of the dominant variety.walshb wrote:Lomachenko needs a few more fights and wins over quality before he can be p4p 1...
Robert Easter would be a very difficult opponent for Vasyl....
Re: Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
Sosa is a vastly overrated fighter on this forum. Sosa is worth very little at P4P level.gilgamesh wrote:His dominant victories over Walters and Sosa is as impressive as anything any other fighter in the sport is currently doing. Russell Jr is not that great either.
Lomachenko is building up a decent record, but it's still clearly too weak for the No. 1 spot.
Re: Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
There are still plenty of solid fighters at 130 I'd love to see him face before rushing up to Lightweight. I consider Walters to be his best victory personally because Walters has the most significant win on his resume of all the guys Loma has beaten.walshb wrote:His best win was Russell. Gary doesn't have anywhere near as significant a win as Walters' win over Donaire. Gary's high standing is mostly based on his perceived potential.
Re: Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
A clear victory for the winner of the Kovalev/Ward or GGG/Canelo fights probably takes the #1 spot from Vasyl, but for now, Vasyl has been more impressive than any of those 4 men as of late IMO.Horse wrote:Sosa is a vastly overrated fighter on this forum. You don't have to agree with me.
Re: Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
It's an insult to boxing to put Lomachenko at No. 1.gilgamesh wrote:A clear victory for the winner of the Kovalev/Ward or GGG/Canelo fights probably takes the #1 spot from Vasyl, but for now, Vasyl has been more impressive than any of those 4 men as of late IMO.

Lomachenko has a very good chance of earning the No. 1 spot properly in the next couple of years.
You are cheapening that possible achievement by claiming that he is already the P4P No. 1.
Re: Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
I disagree. I believe he's already there. Like I said you don't have to agree with me. He's out there getting dominant victories. GGG, Kovalev and Ward are currently not. If that changes in the next few months then so will my P4P #1.Horse wrote:It's an insult to boxing to put Lomachenko at No. 1.gilgamesh wrote:A clear victory for the winner of the Kovalev/Ward or GGG/Canelo fights probably takes the #1 spot from Vasyl, but for now, Vasyl has been more impressive than any of those 4 men as of late IMO.

Also I don't see how it's insulting to rank the guy who is beating very high level fighters with the greatest of ease an insult to Boxing.
Now good day sir.
Re: Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
He's not beating very high level fighters.gilgamesh wrote:Also I don't see how it's insulting to rank the guy who is beating very high level fighters with the greatest of ease an insult to Boxing.
Stop overrating his opposition.

Says the guy who is constantly swinging from Tyson "I Won the Heavyweight Title in a Staring Contest" Fury's balls?Horse wrote:He's not beating very high level fighters.gilgamesh wrote:Also I don't see how it's insulting to rank the guy who is beating very high level fighters with the greatest of ease an insult to Boxing.

I expressed my opinion. You don't have to agree with it as I said. Now kindly f*ck off.

Re: Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
Right now I have Lomachenko as P4P #1.
But if GGG defeats Alvarez convincingly or vice versa, I will change it.
If Ward were to defeat Kovalev fairly, without illegal tactics and crooked officials, he might deserve it but not if loses and then receives another robbery on the cards. If Kovalev KOs Ward, he obviously deserves consideration.

So what I'm reading here is that if Ward wins you're not gonna give him credit because you're gonna claim he was cheating?Freedom2013 wrote:Right now I have Lomachenko as P4P #1.

I never claimed that Fury was the champion until he beat Klitschko.gilgamesh wrote:Says the guy who is constantly swinging from Tyson "I Won the Heavyweight Title in a Staring Contest" Fury's balls?

Lomachenko is being over hyped and overrated, as is his opposition.
Re: Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
P4P #1 isn't an actual title that is held by anybody. It is an opinion that different people expressed. Lomachenko being overhyped and overrated is YOUR opinion and you're entitled to it, but I have a different one.Horse wrote:I never claimed that Fury was the champion until he beat Klitschko.gilgamesh wrote:Says the guy who is constantly swinging from Tyson "I Won the Heavyweight Title in a Staring Contest" Fury's balls?

It's not all that often by the way that who is P4P #1 is clear. I know it has seemed that way with Mayweather and Pac being the dominant P4P forces for so long, but there have been several times in Boxing history where there was debate about who was the #1 guy in the sport. This is just another one of those times.

The best boxer in the world is and will be in future time loma.
The boxer with the best record will be the winner of ggg canelo.

Re: Who will be P4P #1 after September 16?
Golovkin after he beats canelo
I can't wait for that fight it's huge.
Ward vs kovalev is a good fight in boxing terms but size wise it would undercard the golovkin fight

it will be canelo, who carefully managed
the timing of his bout with GGG.
