Nietes is the second best now, but he's getting up there too. No prospects I'm familiar with off the top of my head.

I dont know anyone. Which is strange, usually success breeds success. Look at Klitschko effect on Ukraine boxing. It seems that every second exciting fighter today comes from Ukraine. Filipinos though are nowhere to be seen.

Philippines have some solid prospects coming up, but I don't see any prospects that will really take the mantle.

Mark Magsayo: Fun fighter, but he got a bit exposed by Avalos. I don't think he's a top-level guy.

Genesis Servania: Very fun fighter to watch, and he had a KO of the year contender. Strong fighter. I haven't seen too much of him recently, but I would say he might be the best prospect so far.

Albert Pagara: I remember this guy was hailed as the next big thing for a while, but he ended up getting his career derailed by Juarez.

I also have to disagree about Donnie Nietes being the best fighter out of the Philippines currently. I think Casimiero is probably the best fighter from the Philippines if he keeps his form. Guy has a crazy great KO win over Ruenroeng a while back, and he's still on a winning streak. I'd probably rate Casimiero higher p4p than Donnie Nietes as of now. Plus, Donnie Nietes looked like crap his last fight against a Thai.

Jerwin Anacaja is probably the next best fighter out of the Philippines. Him and Casimiero are very young and very talented fighters.

Either Anacajas or Casimiero are probably going to take the reigns once Donaire and Pacquiao retire.

Holy hell, I had no idea Chimpa got upset. Damn, the Filipino only has one loss too.

A lot of exciting talent coming through over there. We've seen names like Magsayo and Pagara being mentioned but there is a lit more:
Jonas Sultan, Aston Palicte, Jade Bornea (who beat Kosei Tanaka in the Ams), KJ Cataraja, Giemel Magramo, Melvin Jerusalem, Jack Tepora, Reymart Gaballo, John Vincent Moralde, Michael Dasmarinas, Harmonito Della Torre, Romero Duno, Jayar Inson (his win over Yada was very impressive),

Also can't over look Tapales, he's made an ass of me so many times recently and Loreto is set to get a shot soon too, and Dexter Alimento impresses me every time I see him

Good post. I've only seen the big 3 in terms of prospects. Servania is probably my favorite coming up. As for the prospects you mentioned, I've only heard about Melvin Jerusalem. Never seen him fight, though. You also have Marvin Sonsona who avenged his loss to Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., but he then disappeared from boxing after a low-level win.

Nietes the forgotten Filipino. 3 division champion and nobody even knows about him.
Why doesn't Arum put him against Shiming or some sh*t like that.

...Because Arum isn't a bloody idiot. If he's throwing Shiming under the train he'll do it against Ioka for a much better payment.

I couln't name one without cheating I'm afraid, sorry. I looked on boxrec for Philppino boxers and it was only when looking at the all time listing that a couple of names from my youth came flooding back - Ben Villaflor and Erbito Sallavaria. Maybe they weren't in Manny P's league but very decent fighters as I recall.

If you looking for the next Pacquaio. Well I'm not sure that's fair but if your looking for one person in a country with good fighters now that country boxing maybe in trouble.
